I love my Clubman!

OK Nam, I got my Clubman on Tuesday and have been driving around quite a bit, roughly 400-450 miles. I've yet to really stretch it out on a good back road with some good twisty's. I really am enjoying my Clubman a lot, just driving around town is fun and always an event. I would like to point out that I have had 0 problems yet (knocks on wood), no cold chatter or cosmoline yet. I am very pleased with the stowing capacity of the boot, and the ease of getting in to the back (thank you club door). Then it comes to just the looks that you get from people with the clubby, just in my work parking lot I see people standing near the clubby and pointing at the club door. From what I have seen (around the East Bay area atleast) there are very few Clubman and when I do see them it is a rare event.

The reason in me writing this really sprouted from an adventure that I just got back from. For those of you who know the SF Bay area I just did a Skyline Boulevard run, and wow it was amazing. The Clubby took to the twisty's with incredible ease and continues to amaze me with how much grip the car has. Everytime I think or feel like I am getting towards the edge of grip (which is beyond most cars) there is still more and more grip. The other thing that surprises me that in fast corners the DTC/DSC does not even flicker like it would in my older BMW.

Overall I am extremely happy with the Clubby and can only wait to become more acquainted with it!

Glad you are enjoying your new car. You picked the right color, silver or black roof?

The measured skidpad rating for grip on the Clubman is .85, which you can compare here to other vehicles:

http://www-ksl.stanford.edu/people/k.../handling.html

.85 is a very good rating, but there's a variety of cars with better grip, including Porche, Toyota MR2, Dodge Viper, etc.

If you really want to push the car to the edge take it to your local autocross club and let loose. Just sign up and borrow a helmet and that's all you need.
