Ok, so I have built 1,000 different Minis in anticipation of my soon to be placed order for October delivery. I was really bummed that you could only get Mellow Yellow in a regular Clubman as I wanted an S. So much so that I was considering getting a regular Mini instead of a Clubman just to get the color I wanted. So of course, since the configurator said I couldn't have Mellow Yellow, I assumed this was the case.
So I am talking with my MA about this, and he says the configurator is wrong and that if they make a Mellow Yellow Clubman, then he can order it in an S regardless of what the configurator says. So I am ecstatic but also worried because why would the website lie?
Two days after I place my order will he call me and tell me he was mistaken? Has anyone else seen a Mellow Yellow Clubman S? He swears he has ordered one before.
Let me know how that color works for you with the Clubman S. I wanted the mellow yellow but was told not availabe on the Clubman S, so I order a Pepper White in S
See, that's what I thought, but he isn't a rookie at all, and he swears he has ordered and delivered one.
What do I do? Call him a liar? I figure I'll order it and just wait for that "I was mistaken" phone call.
Well, you will get one. If you give him a deposit, then he wins. He hooked you. Don't be surprised when people on this board know more about MINIs than your average MA.

He doesn't win. I am going to order a Clubman S anyway. All that matters is what color it is. Why would he lie? He has the sale and knows that.
Why did you even ask the members here, if you already knew your car salesman was correct?
Why are you being mean? I was just asking if anyone had seen one. It is kind of uncomfortable to call your MA a liar when he is legit, has sold you a car before, and swears he has delivered one. I am not being hooked, I am getting a Clubman S regardless.
in the brochure mellow yellow is not a model-specific color. however in both our and uk's configurators MY isn't available on the clubman s. so your salesman is probably just a bit confused. it's a technicality, and there might be some production/cost reasons to have only so many #'s of colors for a specific model (since clubby s has hot chocolate). too bad for you pepper white or lightning blue looks way better on a clubman s anyway, imo

That was the other issue I was looking to broach since he probably is wrong and I will find out when we finally place my order.
Why will they build a MY Clubman but not an S. If my understanding of the factory is correct, they go down the same line. It can't be a production or cost issue. It just seems illogical. MY is a pretty popular color in the Mini line.
He likely delivered a Mini Cooper S in MY not a Clubman. You can buy a S in MY in the sedan. He's just remembering the wrong model but the right combination of S and MY.

I will be very anxious to see what happens here. I also wanted a MY S and have been postponing placing an order on the premise that the MY option S is not available.
If your MA has previously ordered and delivered a MY Clubman S surely he can go back in his customer files to confirm this. If he does you're away to the races
Maybe he can even put you in touch with the person and you can see the beast in the flesh
Everyone is so pessimistic in this thread... I find it very hard to believe that a car can't be build to EXACT specifications, especially when the colored panels are already available. Now, I shouldn't assume anything about Mini, but I know that with companies like Audi and BMW, you can order cars in custom colors for an upcharge. Generally, they'd handle a factory color differently than if you wanted custom chameleon paint, but the point is that you get a factory paint job in a color of your choice for a nominal charge. I believe that it would be possible to get a Clubman S in MY, but that's just optimism.
That's like asking why you can't get a Dark Silver Clubman (non-S). MINI likes to make certain colors specific to certain models. For wahtever reason, they chose to not allow MY as an option for the Clubman S.
That's why I went with the regular Clubman. Gotta have my Mellow Yellow.
Zugzug, those on this site have dealt with reality.
It's not pessimism. Mini dictates the color options.
Personally, I liked Nightfire Red, but it wasn't available on the Clubman S.
I checked, asked, demanded and was told, "No!"
I chose a different color seconds later.
That's reality.
"No soup for you."

I ended up ordering Pepper White because I didn't like the contrasting roof/tailgate that a Yellow Clubman would bring.
But I did ask when I placed my order just for curiosity sake. He insisted I could get MY until he went to his manager which confirmed my suspicion that it was not available on an S.
