Not liking the Clubman 'Dune Lines'

Does anyone else feel that the Clubman's roof is unflattering? The Coupes kept it simple, minimalist and streamlined. The roof just looks wrong with the dune lines (as MINI calls it), and it also makes the racks out of place (.. and off-centered). I contemplated in adding-in the roof rack in the configurator, but decided to leave it off due to the awkward appearance it creates. It feels cluttered and over-designed. Try adding any combination of the roof rack, sunroof, graphic, or rear spoiler. It just doesn't fit well together. The Coupe, I think, could fit better with any of the previous mentioned features.

How upsetting.

Have you seen the Clubman with the roof rack in person? It really suits the ridge line.

Well - to each their own. I think it looks pretty good myself.

I dunno, it looks pretty good to me. Donna/Mikes ride looks good with the rack and it doesnt take away from the car at all. I saw pics of the 'wing' in another thread and THAT takes away from the lines. Just my opinion.

I must like it, the roof rack is hanging in the game room, and the Clubman is paid for and scheduled for a pick up on Tuesday.

My Clubman S won't be here until June and I haven't seen one in person yet, but I think the Dune Lines look good in all the pictures and video I've seen.

I personally like the dune lines and think they work well with the roof rack....but I will agree with you on the roof graphics. Unless the graphic is made to go in between dune lines, having any part of the graphic form to the dune line contours can be very distracting to the lines of the car and of the graphic. I've only seen one with checkers, but it definitely didn't work as well as it does on the other MINI's.

In terms of spoiler...you're right, adding one would look silly....but that's due, in a large part, to the fact that the car basically comes with a spoiler. It's very similar to the Cooper in that it has an extended roof line that hangs over the rear boot.

And concerning the sunroof....unless the car is black, the sunroof always poses a distraction with dune lines or not. You're putting a large black square right in the middle an often light colored body panel....you can't really do that without disrupting the flow of the roof.

I think they complement the upright back end of the car. From a engineering standpoint, I know they stiffen the roof. No complaints here.
