Great car, though, obviously, I am partial. Great pick up with only 8K miles. I thought I was good at the 20K I got on my four year old car when I bought it.

It was my brothers who has always had a primary car and then toys that were only driven on clear days. When I bought it from him the wipers had never been used.

That's how it stayed nice, and keep it in the family.

savagetone, I love the stripes on your R52. Can you post a view from the front?

It would be great if there was a forum thread to show the graphics that people have done. I am looking to add some graphics to my new-to-me R52 and would like to see what others have done for ideas.

What’s Cabrio stands for? I own a r52 2006 base convertible, with 102k miles acquired in October last year 2017.
the top doesn’t want to come down! besides banging the back sensors what else can be done?
thanks

Gum,

Cabrio is short for Cabriolet which in France in the 1700s was a small carage with a single horse and a folding top. Sounds like a modern MINI convertible to me.

The first thing to check is that the package shelf in the trunk is lowered and hitting the sensor. Next are the locks for the top in the trunk fully engaged and hitting the sensors. Let us know if this helps and others can add more complex things to check.

Good luck.

About to get mine!!

Shopping around for 05-08 MCSCs. I think I have found it! Chili Red. Heading up there in T-minus 4 1/2 days!! Hope all is good and I can bring it home. Not sure what name, but it will come to me. Now to convince my hubby that my 03 JCW (Frost1e) needs to stay with me as well!

Good luck. Post some pictures when you get it home. You do need to have two. Is the 03 your daily driver or will this be a third car for you?

I drive my '03 every day! We go everywhere together. Unfortunately, with 194,000 miles, my husband feels it is probably cheaper to replace him (the car not my husband, lol) then fix all of the problems. It was packed with Stop Leak when I got it 4 years ago.

Hi, new to the board and new to MINI. Just bought my buddy's 2007 Sidewalk S (140,000 miles) for fun driving around my town, occasional commuting to my office (6 miles) and, as a side benefit, teaching my boys how to drive a manual transmission. A fun buy for $2000. Everything works, and interior/tires/clutch/brakes are good. Only negative is the cable on right side of convertible top doesn't work, so when putting the top down, you have to stick a screwdriver to release the hatch. But then it folds fine.

Given the fact that I don't have much $$ into the purchase, I will look for any good suggested upgrades. I assume the top fix is doable, but will find out what is involved.
