Vibration

Only had the mini a year and not sure about all of the nuances and sounds. When sitting at idle there is a small vibration through the steering wheel. Much more pronounced than my other vehicles. Is this normal or should I look at replacing the engine mounts.

Bill Haley covered Shake Rattle and Roll back in 50's, yes welcome to the world of Mini Cooper vibrations.

Don't know how many miles you have but you should check the mounts for sure. If the heat shield is not at a true 90 degree angle to the firewall it could contact the header and you will get a rattle. The gas tanks may also be rubbing on the x bracing under the car. I am thinking the lack of a hardtop produces more vibes in the vert. My mirror shakes at 2000 RPMs. I have a thread on what I have done to date, it has helped mitigate but my vert still has vibes.

Whatever you can find that helps please add.

13k. It's not a rattle, but a subtle vibration like you'd get in a muscle car but more subtle. It visible to the eye looking at the steeriing column. Not so much objectionable, just curious.

Yep I have the same. As I have 47k and you have only 13k, it would appear to be a design issue.

Hadn't really noticed that on mine (80k), but I will pay more attention the next time I drive the car.

I believe this is a "Some do, Some do not." You are truly blessed.

I believe this is a "Some do, Some do not." You are truly blessed by getting to drive an R52.

Fixed for you!

I believe this is a "Some do, Some do not." You are truly blessed even more by getting to drive an R52 (that does not vibrate)

Fixed for you to!

Did you check the lower engine mount or upper mount? Check the lower one for cracks and the upper one will leak fluid. My R52 tends to have a little more feedback through the steering wheel than the R53 or R50.
