R52 top is stuck down.
So this weekend I worked on the 2005 MCS. I replaced the clutch, strut mounts, new motor mount inserts, new axles, and few other odds and ends. So with that being said I've run into a couple issues... one of which is pretty minor... the other however is driving me crazy!
I got everything back together and cranked her up.. there's a SUPER loud high pitched sound coming from the engine bay. I *BELIEVE* it's the gray MAP sensor tube... I broke it at the sensor connector and tried to repair it until the replacement comes in.. My thought is this because the only time the sound is made is when the car is in vacuum. Doesn't happen when the engine is under pressure. That's the only vacuum line that was messed with, other than the line connected to the throttle body.
My other problem is that after putting the car back together my top is stuck down. Friday afternoon before puling the car into the garage the top had trouble going down. I had to use the switch for the two back windows, then use the switch for the top. It went down with no problem. But When I tried to raise the top last night. The motor runs for about 1-2 seconds then stops. The top raises up a couple inches then goes back down. I tried to raise it manually but the owner's manual is lacking in detail. If anyone can give some insight to that, it would be great!

Try opening all the way again, just hit the open top button again, with the car running and charging the dialectical, sometimes the top faults and needs set back to the original position.
If that still does not work.
You have to gain access to the trunk on the left hand side , use the tool , and raise the top and then close the sunroof portion ( with a allen tool ) of the top from the cover under the center sunroof motor.
All info on the convertible top here , look at page 9.

That's great. Maybe passed on some info
No, its just up and the hall sensors will know when you try to put it back down. You might get a flashing red light on the operation at first because you have a fault in the system. I have R52 and had a fault once , pushed the button to close it , ( when already opened ) did the short raise then stop issue. Never did it again. Try that first. Hit the open button again till you hear the motor oepn the top again then shut off. After that you windows will al raise up. Then hit the close button again. If it still has an issue you have a fault in the system and i will need read. This tool will read all faluts in the convertible top in the stored faults which then can narrow down the issue.

You are welcome. Sounds like the map sensor on the housing side was broken and air was leaking and whistling from the crack or the seal on that sensor.
Thanks for the order. Always here to help.
