Oil Change

I removed the Oil filter cap and reinstalled due to a minor leak around edge between the cap and the housing. After carefully reinstalling the oil filter cap, the leak is much worse. It is a solid stream between the cap and the housing. I have the filter properly oriented, the rubber gasket in the right place and oiled and it is not cross threaded. I can see no visible cracks.

Sounds like the gasket has torn or you are not tightening it down enough.

bet the gasket is bad...
aftermarket filter?
I always like the OEM Mini, the MANN(one of 2 oem filter makers) was usually my choice...
get a new filter...toss it out if you want, or swap it..put in the o-ring...lube it up, and install...should be about $8-12 or so...if a place tries to sell it to you more much more, RUN. There are stories of places selling no name junk for $50+.
should be able to tighten it down...check for leaks....
