Rear Parking Sensors (PDC) not working

It has never worked since I purchased it a month ago. When I put it in reverse, the is no beeps heard. I have checked the PDC/PAS Fan Fuse and that is intact. I plugged in INPA and got the following:

24 voltage ultrasonic sensor general

Error frequency : 50

Short circuit to ground
Error present

Can someone point me in the right direction please. Thanks

The rear pdc sensors shares the same fuse as the PS fan on "refresh", aka 2005+ cars...
So bet the is fan is siezed, fuse blown...
Edit..saw you check the fuse..
Guess that leaves a bad sensor or bad wire...
Me...a mini is so small...always thought the pdc was overkill....

The convertibles are not easy to park. The entire rear view is restricted. If it was the sensors, it would state short or open circuit to sensor though would it not? And I can't see all sensors going at the same time or having a short.

They're not necessarily difficult to park either...the use of mirrors is a lost art.

How ironic...I logged in to post about my reverse lights and PDC not working since I purchased back in October and saw where someone is posting the same question. Do your reverse lights work? I have been down the same route with checking the fuse. I have a new reverse sensor and suspect the old one was broken when the clutch was replaced prior to me owning it. There's one problem, I can't find where it is located. I ordered a Bently manual last week and waiting for it to come. I checked online and read to remove driver's front wheel and shine a light on tranny and you will see it. Well, I didn't see it. Any thoughts?

Think the switch for the rear backup light UNDER the airbox in the engine bay...on the outside of the tranny....
Seems to come up regularly with clutch changes...folks often forget to plug it in..so no backup lights.

Thanks! That's what I've read is that they are either knocked and broken or do not get plugged back in. I'm going to go and check it out now.

Lol...this is true. You were correct, right under the air box. I sprayed a small amount of penetrating oil on it and will change it this evening. I noticed when I unplugged it, the connection was saturated with what looked like trans fluid.

Replace your reverse switch. I replaced mine and now have backup lights and the PDC works as well. Easy job; 30 -45 mins.

I didn't realize the lights do work. I realize that mine only beeps if I'm within 2 or 3 feet from something. Have you tried putting it in reverse while the key is in the run position and then walk behind the car? You can do this with the engine off and will be able to hear a beep.

I ask this only because I still didn't think mine worked at first.

Yes, I have tried all this. Its definitely not working and I am also not getting an initial beep when I stick it in reverse. The reverse light comes on fine, Fuse 40 (PDC and PAS FAN) is intact. INPA is showing a current fault as every time I clear the fault, the fault comes immediately back on whether I engage reverse or not.

Okay, mine doesn't have an initial beep when I engage reverse.

I wish I could offer more help. I wonder if it would throw a fault if you unplugged one or all sensors?

Yea, you can put your ear on them with the car in reverse, you should here them tick,,,tick,,,tick, if you dont hear in on one or two of them, each one of those are bad, they get water past the seal from high pressure cars washes or pressure washers. I know this as I ave an R52 and know people that go through automatics. You can get them black or painted by color, you can not get them primed and paint them as the paint process applies a very thing coat of paint so the PDC sonar cannot bounce back.

you can set the system to give you a test beep each time the car is put in R or not. I had a recent problem where the beep was on constantly when the car was in R. Carefully washed the sensors and now all is back to normal. if you found the right fuse and the car displays reverse lights and the sensors are clicking when in R as stated above I would find and check the speaker/horn that is making the noise and ensure it is not damaged or if the wires to it are intact.

Yep, they get water in them and fail. I got the water out of mine with a hairdryer, but then the next heavy rain it got water in it again. Then i just replaced it.
