Red, Thanks for the update on access to the cars. Was the federalized Lotus Elise there? Regarding the pics, I really like the Nomad concept. Just great proportions and shape. I wonder how long this retro design phase will last?

>>The interior trim appears to be Anthracite, but the trim on the 3-spoke is silver!?
>>I know on 04s and earlier cars there are other bits and pieces that are silver when you order anthracite, but in the convertible those pieces appear to be chrome. Therefore there appears to be a mix of anthracite, silver, and chrome pieces throughout the interior....... I thought that is a bit weird.

>>What do you guys think!?
The car had a chrome kit on it... which is a new feature

Yes. There was an Elise in the lobby at a small Lotust exhibit to the left of Rolls Royce.
Retro sells better than jelly beans I guess. But I wonder what the younger demographic thinks?
My 19 year old son loved the Chrysler 300, so maybe the trend has legs.
>>I wonder how much weight the convertable adds? Also, if it changes the weight balance??? I've always been a sunroof guy...
We were told by the presenter that the convertible MINI would add approx 200-300 lbs to the weight of a regular MINI.
Yes it adds weight ... due to reinforcements of the body... etc...etc...
I recently checked out the show as well. I was pretty bummed that I couldn't see a demo of the roof closing and the sunroof feature. I realize Mini's marketing campaign is based around "always open" but come on, the car show is the place to get hands-on demos of new stuff. I was told by the booth attendants that they couldn't do it.
Could you please take a picture of the trunk  I really want to know how much we would be giving up...
thanks, and enjoy the show (in houston we didn't get the convertible, but the 645 is sooooooo yummmyyy)

thanks! glad you enjoyed it! I had a great time at the show, and would have liked to see the top going up also. today I was at the dealership and my MA told me that they expect to have one soon (just not for test driving), but for demos like that. so I'll grab a video when it comes here.
oh yeah, and the boot storage space is the same as having your seats up and the rear shelf in place. my guess is if you keep your back seats up all the time you won't even notice anything different space-wise.
