Do I have Parking Distance Control?

Hello, all. First time posting and a very recent member to this wonderful group. I bought my 07MCS Cabrio used. I'm still trying to learn as much as I can about the car, but this one has me stumped. I can't tell if I have Parking Distance Control or not, and if I do, why I can't figure out if it's working. I've backed up slowly towards walls, other cars, etc., and I hear nothing. I have not yet run the fuse box, but I will soon, but is there an external way of telling whether I have PDC on my car? Sorry for the newb question, but this one seems to have eluded me in searching through the forums here. TIA

dave

Look at your back bumper...do you have a series of 4 circles across the bumper? If so, you have the PDC. I will try to post a picture.

If you have those circles & no progressive BEEP when backing up, you might have a fuse blown or some other glitch.

wow--that's what I call response. I guess I do have it--four circles on the bumper, and ALTA-Jarid's confirmation, too.

Now--to the fuse box....

Okay--that's pretty cool. Until the fuse blows again. Sure enough, a 5A fuse in position 40 was blown. I put in the spare, and got two beeps out of it until it blew again. So, I put in a 10A (I know, I know) and it's working fine. Any thoughts about whether this is worth the two hour drive to the nearest dealer? In other words--is it an indicator of something greater amiss?

I would let the dealer know what is happening...
It could be a short that will cause other problems.

That fuse also (at least on my '05 MCSC) supplies power for the p/s pump cooling fan. It's almost directly under the engine and siezes very easly with road gunk and plastic bags. If the car is still under warrenty get it fixed, if not there are posts on cheapish fixes.

I agree with Soulsword on this one, my PDC stopped working and the dealer replaces a fuse, stopped the same day. I took the car back to the dealer and was told the problem was the P/S cooling fan was bad and needed to be replaced, glad I have a warranty on the car.
