I've recently bought a 2005 MCS convertible that had an accident before at a really low price.. Everything works except for the roof. It doesn't move an inch, there no sound, no light just nothing...
When in put on my lights in the dark, the buttons or the rear windows light up, but not those for the convertible roof .. Just looks like they don't get any power.. I checked all the fuses and they are ok.. There's just one fuse missing in the motor compartment, the one for the rear window heating, but the window has been replaced by a non heated rear window.. Maybe this fuse is causing the problem tough ?
There is a sensor in the trunk to detect that the trunk lid thing is down, as well as that the convertible releases are engaged. it is on the right side. If it was damaged, it will prevent the top from opening. That's the first place i'd look.
know how the trunk can be opened "more" by unhooking the latches? look at the top of the right latch, you'll see the switch there.
if that isn't it, it could be one of many many different problems, from a dead pump to a broken wire somewhere or who knows...
