Seems I now have a common issue with my convert. top that it will not budge on the passenger side. I am investigating this to find the part but any enlightenment anyone can give us on the repair would be appreciated!
But here is the main problem and question I have...I called a dealer that I have purchased 2 MINIs from. The person in the service department that I talked to tells me that the warranty on the car starts the day it hits their showroom!!! He says my MINI came into retail in October 2004 so it went out of warranty in October of 2008.
Now I thought the warranty started when the car was purchased. I ask about what happens if someone doesn't buy the car for 9 months - do they just loose 9 months of warranty time? His answer was well the dealer usually sells it as a demo so he can add 5000 miles to the warranty period but the time does not extend!
When I bought my used '06 MCC I called ASK MINI. The build date on the car is 9/06 shipped over at the end of Oct. 06, and they told me it was sold as a demo and my warranties (maintenance & bumper to bumper) were both extended time wise, but only the BTB warranty is more mileage (55,000k miles). This car was first titled the spring (07) after it arrived in the States, so it must have sat on the lot over the winter. I can't figure out why they'd have used an '06 cabrio as a test driver for the '07 model year (in Denver, no less - not a convertible hot spot in the winter).
I was told that the warranty starts from the first day the car is titled. I would not have bought my 07 if this were not the case, my Mini was a may 07 build and I was the first owner I got the car in December 07. Warranty goes 4 years from my purchase.

What the ???
Is this in fact true?
Thanks in advance.
I think the details of the Warranty is in the User's Manual. The Warranty starts on the date of purchase. If it's a demo car, Mini will extend the warranty so to be fair to the customer.
