Squeaky Top

When the top on my 2008 MCSC opens/closes, it's squeaky. Does anyone have a "map" of lubrication points and a recommendation for an appropriate grease?

Thanks

Mine is awful, too ('06 MCc). I thought that was normal.

I wonder if the dealer can do anything about it? I still have maintenance warranty left.

Hmm. I have a '05 MCc and it's surprisingly really quite. The only noise is the motors used to put the top down which is nothing close to a "squeak."

I bet the dealer could take care of it for you though!

Doesn't bother me at all. I'd be afraid to try and fix it... for fear of constantly bothering with something small that keeps coming back. Ignoring it is working fine for me.

Warmer temps seem to have reduced the problem. I will resist the urge to go 'squeek-shooting' with my WD-40.

Mine screams when I try to put the top up (08 MCS). I just think of it as her way of objecting to the top being up. I have had the dealership lube it and it helped for a day or two but she's back to screaming.

My windows squeak. My door panel squeaks. My tranny squeals, but my top doesn't. Which is surprising.

You might be able to contact your local dealer for a printed out bulletin that the technicians use to repair cars. Im sure they even sell the MINI approved grease!

I had my Inspection I done, and the top is now blissfully quiet.

Has anyone put together a procedure for checking & lubing the ragtop mechanism?
