Locks behaving erratically (unlocking at speeds) + hatch sensor

Hey all,
Just bought a 2006 Mini Cooper Cabrio in silver for my wife. It is still seems to be under warranty and maintenance as it was sold for first time in 2007 and has only 23K miles.

1 - We also immediately discovered that on a 100 mile trip the locks would go up and down on their own while the car is in motion. They would lock when we started moving (around 10mph) and then unlock on their own around 50mph...

2 - Another issue is that we get a "door/hatch open" light on the speedo from time to time. I've traced it down to the hatch sensor which doesn't always read that hatch is actually closed. I start the car, light comes on, i exit the car, push the hatch (it is locked), look at the light - it's OFF.

3 - And as the last issue - we only got key and i'm looking to get a second key with remote. I've found a seller on eBay selling uncut keys who says the keys can be reprogrammed by "some" locksmith or by MINI dealer to be able to start the car ( i guess the transponder needs to be recoded).

Any help on these issues would be great!

Hi
1) I had the same issue with my 07 MCc, when I used the extra key the locks ould do the same thing. Have the dealer re-program your key, that fixed the issue with my car.

2) Have the dealer check the sensors on the doors and boot lid, a switch could be bad.

3) I would advise getting the extra key from the dealer it will cost you about the same as getting the key from e-bay and having the key programed and cut for your car.
