End of The Line for R52 Convertible

Motoring File has a farewell article for the R52 Convertible:

http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/08/...oduction-line/

It made me so wistfully sad that I'm headed out to hug mine right now.

I thought the last 100 convertibles were all going to be triple-black JCW models?

I wonder if there's a story behind the last one being a silver-white Sidewalk model - did MINI know all along that's how the last one was going to be configured, or was that just what the last customer happened to order?

Sad Day for the Verts...

But a happy day for those of us that are current owners. Glad to have my prestine 06 tucked away in the garage...

Let it out! Tucked away is not where it belongs!

I used to think about owning a classic. Then I realized I already own one. I just need to wait a few more years for the official classification.

My thoughts exactly! When I drive my car, I think things like "I am blessed" or "This is the feeling that people who can have anything are looking for".

Let's turn this thread into visual evidence of the mistake MINI is making.

My contribution:

I'm with you, Blimey... I'd love to be able to by one of these last ones, tuck it away, and have it as a spare when Dr Evil is no longer able to motor.

I sold my 66 VW beetle with 46K miles on it so I could get this car.. One classic for another! Both were white too!

I would, but I don't think you'd like that trade if you saw those S-Lites up close. I bought this gorgeous MINI about 15 months ago, it had 32,000 miles on it. The original owner wasn't as OCD about the MINI as I am and those wheels have a couple of spots of curb rash on them. I'm thinking of replacing them but when I do, someone will get those S-Lites CHEAP. A new set of sidewalk wheels is NOT cheap.

It does get out, but normally only on weekends. I work @ home so I don't have to drive it on a daily basis. We go out on weekends and some nights and of course, we are always Topless.....
