Does my MINI have a secret compartment?

I just picked up my 08 MCSC (Sidewalk) a few weeks ago. I have read (and searched) through all the posts, even took a look at the cool video of how to access it, but I press & press & press & pull & pull on the darn thing and nothing is happening. So does the 08 MCSC Sidewalk have a secret compartment above the glove box??

Nope. Once they go to the new bodystyle for the cabrio I think it will be there, but not on the current bodystyle.

And besides, if someone told you then it wouldn't be a secret anymore, would it?

Didn't I once read on these forums that there is a way to access that seemingly locked compartment? I can't find the thread but I seem to remember someone saying that the dealer could get up there and remove a clip or something. I'd love to know because my wife's 2008 convertible's is unaccessible.

I thought there was supposed to be a small "secret" compartment fore of the drivers side rear wheel well. Never found that one either.

Um.... 2008 cabrio is a first gen MINI - it does NOT have a secret compartment. If you don't believe us - open the glovebox, grab the bottom edge of the dash panel with your fingers, and pull. You can snap the dash panel off and see for yourself.

The closest thing to a secret compartment in the first gen cabrio is under the bonnet. There are 2 cubby holes perfect for keeping food warm on long trips.

(but they are there in all models...not just 1st gen cabrios)

If you buy a second generation Cabrio, they have the secret compartment. You can try Paul's method and make your own.

By the way... you can absolutely stuff a couple of pounds of contraband behind the 1st gen dash panels. Ask wildcrazy how he knows.
