I was curious if anyone has an amateur radio in their cabrio, and if so, how was the antenna mounting handled? Just something I thought of recently...

I'm not a ham.... but a few folks are now mounting CB whips on their tow hooks on the rear, using a mirror mount, with good results. No idea how well this will work for your rig. Only other option I've heard is a glass-mount antenna on the windshield.

Do you know if that affects the PDC?

Yep... PDC goes nuts when in reverse with the tow hook mount on. Only downside I've found to it.... but don't know of a better option... and unplugging the offending PDC sensors isn't an option - that will yield a continuous tone, too.

Hi, Just found the thread. I have a lot of ham gear in my cabrio. A hi Q bug catcher mounted on the rear tow hook. A mast stabelizer on a bracket that bolts inside the trunk lip. The 2 meter and 440 ant is on a matching bracket on the other vertical lip of the trunk door. All bolts are inside the door so no holes will show when all is removed. I am also running 500 watts to an ameritron. All equipment is in the trunk well over the battery. W5IG is my call, good luck. Storm chaser. LEE
