2007/2008 Cabrio owners - do me a favour?

Would you look in your owner's manual and tell me what the recommended wheel bolt torque is? I'm curious if MINI ever updated the first-gen owner's manuals after they switched to the 14mm bolts. (My late-year 2006 has the 14mm bolts, but still lists the torque spec for the old 12mm bolts, so I'm wondering if they bothered to fix it for the 2007/2008 manuals).

Morning Scott. My 08 manual says: 103.3 lb ft/140 Nm. I doubt the manual was changed from (at least) the previous year because in 08 they added power folding mirrors which are not addressed in the manual.

So, is that the correct torque? I believe when I took my front wheels off for my front fog light bulb upgrade I tightened mine back to 90, corresponding to the only (preset) torque wrench I could get my hands on at the time. So, are my wheels going to fall off?

Yes, 103 lb-ft is the correct torque for the 14mm bolts. The old 12mm bolts used 88 lb-ft. I'd re-torque your wheels just to be safe. You're only about 10% low, but I'd rather be spot-on than low when it comes to wheel bolt torque.

So, the 2006 manual says 88 lb-ft, and the 2008 manual says 103 lb-ft. Anyone have a 2007 manual?

Thanks. So, it appears that even though MINI started using the new bolts in mid-2006, the owner's manual wasn't updated until the 2008 model year.

Yes - your 2007 has the newer 14mm bolts, and the correct torque spec for those bolts is 103.3 lb ft/140 Nm.

The number in your owner's manual is for the 12mm bolts, which MINI used up until mid-July 2006.

If there is anyone with a 2008 MCS Cabrio can you look at the MINI Owners Lounge and see if you can download a 2008 Owners Manual in PDF format?
When I go to my Owners Lounge it does not allow me to access 08 models only the 2007 and older.

Here's the 2007 MCS Cabrio Owners Manual if anyone needs one.

You may have to wait a while. I have a 2006, and the 2006 Owner's Manual wasn't posted online until nearly a year after I got my car. By the time it was posted, the 2007 model was already on sale!
