Multiple ways to mend plastic

there are multiple ways to mend plastic

it can be welded - yes welded

and there are various glues and special fillers

I've even seen the heat generated by a grinder used to fuse a tear back together.

here are some options.

Two additional thoughts...

1. I was in Advanced Auto last nite and noticed hanging on the rack near the 'fillers' a package of a two part plastic bumper repair material. The tubes are nice and small so you wouldn't be wasting money.... Sorry - it is by that company everyone snickers at: BONDO....

2. That said, I don't think the problem will be gluing up the cut - the problem is getting it smooth for paint. I noticed AA did not have any of the fancy flex fillers I used when fixing a similar booboo on a days old SCION while hanging out at the VoTec High School body shop for adult education. Once we glued the cut we applied a rather expensive but very flex' filler. Once the ppp was done daddy should never know she backed into that pole.... I typical plasit filler will dry stiff and another bump could pop it off. Somewhere in your town is the place that supplies autopaint & body supplies to 'the industry'. In my town they are listed in the yellow pages under, surprise: "automotive paint". Their store front is chock full of all sorts of special tools and materials. They have always been willing to discuss options for repair and finish materials with me - and donate a ton of stuff to the VoTec program! They sell to plenty of hobbiests as well as body shops....
