Rain sensor help

Hi,
We have a 2004 Cooper S. Bought it used. On the print out from the dealer, it says that one of the options is Rain Sensing wipers.... the wiper stalk is proper one, but there is not rain sensor on the windshield. Windshield was replaced by previuos owner before it was traded in, so I suspect they did something goofy....and did not install it back.

If, with luck, the plug is still under the headliner, can I just get a sensor and plug it in? Here is the sensor that I need:

can somebody post a picture of the sensor/rear view mirror? My mirror is auto dim one.
Thanks

Search for the retrofit rain sensor for the PPG windshields. The part is meant for BMW's, but has worked with MINIs. Make sure some jackass didn't cut your wires. If they're still intact, you may be in business!

Rain

Have 04 S with rain sensor. Easiest thing to ck first is the windshield replacement. Rainsensor windshield is approx. double the price so there is a good chance that it was replaced with the cheaper of the two,or the person changing the windshied was not aware of the option. Personally do the really like the sensor as I have a Cooper banner on my windshield and it doesn't work properly, nor is it missed.

Well, the harness plug is there, it was tucked away....
I dont understand why the windshield is twice the price...all that is different is the tint around the sensor....
This windshield is PPG. I do have the self dimming mirror and the build sheet is correct....
So from reading the board, I can either get the OEM rain sensor for $139 plus $4 for the bracket or a aftermarket PPG sensor for BMW that some people used for $85....

Reason why I want the sensor is because the wiper stalk that comes with the sensor wipers does not the intermittent setting adjuster...

mojo, both our MINI's have auto rain sensor wipers. Look above the rearview mirrors in this pic and you'll see where they're located. From the inside, it's a hardly-noticeable rectangular unit, very small.

Thank you for the help. I ended up calling my local MINI dealer and spoke with the parts department. They asked for the last 7-digits of my VIN to determine if I have rain sensors and, YEP I do!

Now I have to tack on an additional $80'ish for the "rain senor" windshield. Go figure.
