Chrome line interior owners -- sun glare?

I'm thinking of spec'ing the Piano Black dash and think the chrome line interior (chrome rings around speedo, gearshift, tac and other items) looks great with this dash. Fantastic contrast. I demo'ed a car with this combo and it looked amazing.

But... i'm curious if any owners with the chrome line interior have noticed bad sun glare with the chrome line interior items.

I recently drove a Toyota S (very different car!) and it has a chrome panel on the shift area that sometimes catches the sun and practically blinds me.

Thanks!

Never once noticed this in a year of owning the chrome interior. Shouldn't be a problem for you. . .

In 15 months I have had no problem with sun glaring off the chrome. The chrome really dresses up the interior, I highly recommend it.

+1. With a Cabrio I would have noticed any glare. Nice look and no glare.

Over a year with it and no glare... I can't imagine getting one without the retro chrome look...

No glare here either. The chrome line option gives the interior a nice classy look.

I have that exact combo (chrome line & piano dash), and I haven't had any problems with it. It looks great, but the piano dash gets dusty very easily.

Well I'll be odd man out, I get the occasionally glare off the ring around the stick, but I only notice when I'm not wearing sunglasses, which isn't very often in FL.

Funny you should say that. When I was specing out my car and talked with my father about it, he advised against it for this very reason (yes, even in my 30's I still ask my father's advice......probably much more now days come to think about it).

I ignored his advice on this occasion and haven't had a single problem with it.

Most other things in my life he's been right on though.

Wow... great responses from everyone... thanks so much. I think I'm going to go for it. I suppose I can always switch out the ring around the stick if I have problems, but it doesn't sound like I will.

evilmini --- good to know about the dash dust... guess that just means spending more time with the car cleaning... just curious... do you find that the Piano Black is more prone to scratches?

i'm excited to submit my order.

thanks again!

2 yrs 1 month (a little one upsmanship) no problem. With all my chrome I can't say it isn't a problem for other drivers.

The only time I've experienced glare is if the sun is very low and abe to shine directly through the back window, It's fairly rare that it happens and the good looks (and positive comments from others) makes the chrome interior worth it.

mini dreams,

No problem with sun glare here. In hindsight, wish I had spec'd the Piano Black dash. The chrome and black combo will look great!

After a whopping 1 week of life with Mini & chrome lined interior in the endless sunny world ( ) of northeast Ohio...nope no glare issues. Your mileage may very...

Seriously though the chrome lined interior's awesome, I couldn't see not having it!!! Just adds the right amount of tasteful class and bling.

No chrome sun glare here, and my whole dash is chrome. Even the floor matts. Well, they're diamond plate but close enough.

bling bling in a MINI

--Nope no blinding moments in a chromed out interior even in sunny Hawaii. Even before I tinted it I've never been blinded by my bling. It looks pretty and everyone always does this "ooooh" when they see it. Nice contrast to the interior.

I've gotten zapped in the eye from time to time but the look is well worth the experience. Mostly I've experienced it when the sun reflects off the shifter knob around noon time.
It looks too good not to have the CLI.

I guess i'll comment.

19months, 18,600 miles and no real complaints for the chrome rings. Just don't use a glossy cleaner on your dash. Then you will get glare for sure.

I saw the pics of your dash in MC2 and must say I now have MINI dash-bling envy, looks like a chrome dash is going onto my wishlist.

I haven't noticed any scratches, but it does seem like it gets swirlmarks. maybe its just the angle you look at it...
