I think I'm coming back!

Well, I think my financial situation with my unsold house in North Carolina might be getting resolved (a few prospective renters have called).

This means I finally get to have another MINI! I was getting very worried because I have had my heart set on a 1st generation car, and I'm running out of time to order!

I have to keep this one a little bit less expensive than my '03 MCS with premium, fogs, driving lamps, and harmon kardon.

Right now I'm thinking about a MC with ssp, sport seats, fogs, cruise, and OBC. My big heartburn is whether or not to get premium for the sunroof, which I really enjoyed on my MCS.

I also can't decide what color to get, as I had a BRG/W before, and I really wanted liquid yellow this time . I like all black, but then I'd want the chrome line exterior. I like the royal grey as well, but I think I'd like it best with the silver, which adds $150 for the spoiler and $100 for the stripe. I also really want the driving lamps again, but I'll probably wait and go aftermarket if I can find some I like.

So, jump in with suggestions to equip my MINI! I still my my '03, and it has been almost two years since I sold it!

(edit) I forgot to add, I'm looking at the Delta Spoke wheels. I haven't seen many pictures of them, though. Anyone?

Thanks, but I'm getting a mid-spec MC over a no - optioned MCS for the purposes of competing in H Stock autocross next year. (and I need all the warranty and gas mileage I can get)

Good news on the fundage and nice build! I just ordered mine local after scouring all the dealer websites back east.
MC PW/B Checkmate, CW, MFSW, Sunroof, Nav. If I didn't go with the checkmate package I would have put on the Delta Spokes, nice look for the MC.
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=55632

I recall seeing several dealers with LY MCs in their inventory but probably all pre-spec'd packages. There were at least a handful.
Color was tough for me too but I like PW and it's $450 less so that was the deciding factor.

Go with the premium package if you liked the sunroof before, you'll like it now. It will barely be a blip on your monthy payment.
Do the math on a couple builds and see just how far you can go. I'm still on the fence about removing the Nav from my build.

well, that settles it, delta spokes it is!

I think my second favorite color is solar red. oh, that's discontinued too.

yikes.

There are a couple ly/b around (cincinnati, columbus) but neither has sport plus suspension, which is a deal breaker for me.

might go with all black.

Delta Spokes are really nice on our Purple Haze Cooper (of course, that color is gone too!)

Maybe have the dealer put on the JCW Sport Suspension? Would be more than double but it doesn't look like it requires ssp though it doesn't look like it adds the updgraded stabilizer either.

What about PW/B? That would knock off $500 since it's non-metallic, which you could put into a sunroof!

Okay, I think I've got it narrowed down to one of these two:

Black/Silver, silver stripe
Chrome line trim
ssp
delta spokes
sport seats
cruise
obc
anthracite dash
chrome line interior
grey leatherette
fogs

or

pepper white/black
ssp
premium
sport seats
fogs
delta spokes
black stripes
checkered mirrors
anthracite dash
black leatherette

both retail for about $20,500

but I have more questions. Like, how does the chrome interior look with the anthracite dash, and how does the chrom line exterior compliment the silver roof? And, is the grey leatherette really two tone on the seats? I'd love that, but I didn't remember that being the case.

Thoughts, opinions?

Okay, more questions. This is a dumb one. What is in the place of the fog lights if you don't order them?

There are filler panels that go in the holes for the fog lights.

If you are SERIOUS about AutoX, forget that sunroof! And look no further than the 7 holies They are the lightest rim you can get with out going aftermarket. I would totally agree with the SSP for an MC AutoX sleeper!

On my Astro Black monotone with Anthracite interior, I wish I had added the interior chrome. I didn't go with the anthracite headliner and still it needs some sparkle to liven it up a bit.

Front and rear fogs will set you back $250, but you are still gona have an empty toggle location for lack of DSC. But you are thinking AutoX so you don't want DSC. I would consider the Cold Weather pack for only $300 Indiana can be cold!
[I ought to know I am moving MIB to Elkhart...]

Forget the factory stripes. Go to a local vinyl shop and have them cut some 4 inch wide strips. That way they can wrap under the chrome trim up over the bonnet and back under the trailing edge of the bonnet. Heck you can get three sets before you spend the $100 for "Factory" stripes that are installed at the dealer.

Who are you buying from? D&R in Indy? Ask for Richard! Tell him DrDiff (Dean Cory) sent ya!

Drop the chrome interior and OBC and get xenon lights instead. Much more useful and they are something that future buyers will be looking for.

Also, skip the sunroof on the other one.

the grey leatherette is two tone and looks great.

Personally, I think the silver dash looks great with a silver roof car, so I'd avoid anthracite in this case, particularly because the grey leatherette seats will come with grey colored door moldings.

Dr Diff,

I've been talking to Richard (emailing) for almost a year on this. He's been very patient.

Yucca,

I'm skipping the xenons (even though they are cool) because I'd rather spend the $500 on something else, AND they come with a slight weight penalty.

The silver dash with silver roof might be pretty cool. I'm starting to back off on some of the options and might go with an even less expensive car.

We had about a 5 month wait from my first drive to when I ordered MIB. I just built one for just over 19K.

My 2003 MCS has all the packages, but my wife's new Cooper has only the necessities that time and experience with the MINI has shown me to be worth it. No sunroof, no auto ac, no OBC, no leather. We avoided the packages and put together one fantastic Cooper for a very good price. It has everything we wanted and nothing we don't need and I only wish my fully loaded MCS were more like her simple Cooper.

I saw a MINI at the dealer (specced by an MA) w/ grey door panels w/ anthracite trim and piano black surrounds (and dash of course). It was really stunning and I'd never seen anything quite like it.

Just thought I'd share...these odd-ball combos show up rarely, but some of them are absolutely spectacular!!

Thread from the dead!

Well, I never got to order one back in June, but I'm finally ready (and just in time!)

A job change and a move to Milwaukee have happened since I posted this thread initially.....

Still speccing.....still undecided.

You'll find something... I see plenty of gently-used MINIs all over the place lately.

Congrats on Milwaulkee... I always loved that town!

If you're still wanting an '06... you might need to order very soon. Not sure how much longer dealers are accepting orders. Since you're been talking to your dealer a lot, you probably already know this. good luck with your final decision!
