With the help from JABowders and others here on NAM, my wife and I were able to get a new plaque made. My wife has been awesome in helping replace the missing mc40 stuff.
Here is a picture in the car.
My phone takes some crap pictures, but here is a straight on shot before I threw it in the car.

$6990 102,000 Missing badges, houston
Went on an autotrader scavenger hunt for mc40's. If you just search for red 2004 coopers and look for chrome mirrors they are almost always mc40's.

I can tell you that it is above My #211 but I do not know how much...
I wonder if we should start a list of known cars by Build Date, VIN and Plaque number?
Here are mine:
3/2004, WMWRE33484TD86146 = 24
4/2004, WMWRE33494TD87404 = 211

Score: Mini 1, Deer 0
How sad... Hit a deer with Mini. I was able to drive away but the deer went to deer heaven (?). Anyway, the insurance company wants to "total" the car for $5,400 in damage to the front (lights, spots, grille, bumper, bonnet, radiator, AC evap.). They say "the VIN says it's just a Mini Cooper S." To what I said no way fat man: It's a limited edition model with $7K of factory add-ons. Plus a JCW Tuning Kit #4535 at $5K in 2004. Black wheel arches and and lower bumper have also been painted Chili Red to match the body. Not a bit of black on this one. Aarrghhh!
My only "proof" of Mini being an MC40 is the original dealer window sticker, plus the JCW Tuning Kit certificate, the #59 of 1000 Paddy Hopkirk number plaque, and the MC40 decals. We'll see if they change their mind. Apparently there is NO WAY to link the VIN to a MC40 model. Anybody else run into this recently?
Anyway, this little go-kart-on-steroids has been a friend for 72,000 miles. Hoping to have Mini for another 100K or more. My 1964 RR Silver Cloud III is not nearly as much fun tho it does turn heads.

Maybe the Insurance Company will let you settle and pay the difference out of your own pocket if you want to keep it... as long as the damage is not beyond repair and only expensive... and you could offset the cost by doing some of the last bits yourself. Let the Shop check/repair the frame and body and paint work, and you can do the replacement of the lights and trim...
Best of luck with whatever you end up doing.

I hope you can get it worked out with the insurance, sorry to hear that, it sometimes takes a back and forth call / fight to get things done. Good luck.

OK my fellow MC40 Owners... I am appealing to your sense of pride in owning a great car and asking you to help me in an exercise in futility.. I am trying to build a MC40 Registry in order to help possible figure out what sequence number cars are that are missing the commemorative plaques.
I have started the list whit my own cars and I have added the few VIN numbers that have been posted here in the Owners Club.
I am looking for known sequence number cars with VINs and build dates (found on the drivers door jam information plate)
I have tried to extract information from the MC40 web site (www.mc40.com) but since it is an older site very little information can be retrieved.
So with your help, we might be able to put together something that can help out members looking for the identity of their cars, thanks for your help.

OK... so here's the rest of the story. 1st call from insurance: "We looked it up and with $5,400 in repairs your Mini will be totaled." Then, after they looked at my proof of MC40 and JCW kit they sent me a check for the repairs stating that they "WOULD repair it." But never told the body shop. After 2 weeks I called the body shop to which they replied that the insurance company was going to "total the car." This is where it gets really interesting. In a two minute call the insurance man said "we totaled it" then he said "we'll fix it and all the hidden damage" followed by "How did you already get a check for the repairs?" Confused? I was! So I summarized what I had just heard and they actually agreed to repair the MINI MC40 good as new! Whoo wee. I'm a happy camper again. #59 will be back on the road soon.

Finally going your way. Congrats and good new indeed. Allot of insurance companies don't know about the rare options or models on MINI. But they do know about more common main stream cars, some of the time.

Minimania has the GB chrome letters. They are stainless steel, rather than plastic and are a slightly different, squarer font, but really look much better than the original ones.

Rorie, you may have the lowest milage MC40. You need to post pictures. We like pictures. My car, with new decals and number panels:

Please HELP the new guy!!!
So I just picked up #54 on Saturday for $2500. It has 160,000 miles, but only 62k since adding the JCW package. The #1 owner told me it needs a water pump and rear brakes, so I took it straight in for the repairs.
Fast forward to today and I get a call from my mechanic that the car needs a new motor.. It's been over heated too many times.
For $5,000 I get an 08 S motor w/ 40,000 miles and everything needed (thermo, water pump, radiator, etc....). They are also doing the rear brakes and some suspension work. Total this repair is going to be $6k.
My question for the forum......is this car worth the money, or should I sell as is or part it out?????? How does the new motor effect the collectibility of the car?
Thank you.

Just a reminder the '08 motor is a Turbo and the 04 is a Supercharger... more than likely you will also need to replace the ECM and the main wiring harness...
But I have not done this type of swap so I don't know everything that needs needs to be done to complete the swap.
As for collectability... it would be the only Turbo MC40 I know of.
