Questions about MCS options and ordering

It's finally time to take the plunge . I've pretty much planned out my options (PW MCS with Premium, Sport, HK), but there are some minor things that I'm trying to figure out.

1. How many buttons are on the universal garage door opener? 1, 2 or 3? For example, could I operate a gate and a garage door that use different transmitters?

2. Dealer is quoting about $700 for the invisishield (top & bottom). Is this worth it? Our MCS will be driving at high speed regularly on AZ highways, so it was something that I was interested in when listed on the online configurator at $240-$260. But $700 sounds a little steep.

3. What are the current charges that North Scottdale Mini is trying to add on to the price? I've heard of a $500 doc fee + an $800-$900 "clear coat" fee. Has anyone gotten out of the "clear coat" fee? Does the doc fee cover title and reg?

Thanks!

JTS

I can only help out with the first question, there are 3 buttons.

Oh, great color choice by the way!

Great. I'm assuming that this means you can assign each button to a different device? That would be perfect. And the three buttons are on the rear view mirror? How easy/hard is it to program? I'm pretty excited about getting rid of the two brick transmitters that I currently have.

Thanks! It was between PW and HB, but my current car is blue, and I wanted something different. Would love to have EB, but oh well.

Clear coat feee? perhaps its the undercarriage rust proofing? See if you can get out of paying that.... This is something that your local garage can do for your for hundreds less.

I recommend the invisishield. Its wayy worth it! Like the others said, there are 3 buttons. They are on the bottom of the rearview mirror in my MINI. And for the clearcoat thing, I read in a C/D mag that it is NEVER worth it. Dont waste your money. The MINI comes with rust protection from the fatory.

There are three buttons - all different - and you program them by doing someting with the remotes for each of the current devices - letting the MINI transmitter read and mimic them, I believe.

Definately get the InvisiShield or 3M product. That was the one thing I wavered on and have regretted it immensely. Within a month, I had a half dozen rock chips from what I deemed "normal" interstate driving in NJ and PA, and there are more there today. Not all but most of them would never have happened with this product. I don't know why but the MINI seems to be a rock chip magnet - maybe it is the aluminum bonnet or the general low height of the bonnet but for some reason I have never had a car that chips like this. Not complaining since that is the only flaw I can name in months of ownership.... Currently, I will probably patch my chips (just Zaino-ed over them so far) and eventually get the bonnet repainted and THEN put the clear bra on it, which is much more expensive than what you quote....

Good luck with the new MINI - the acquisition period is great fun, but it only gets better !!

Bill
