So I went to the car show in Celebration, Florida (where I live) the other day...
And when I went to park the MINI...the six inch tall curb moved itself into the underbelly of my baby. The result of this catastrophe was an ugly scraping sound. So I quickly put it into reverse and the noise slowly stopped. I knew what happened right away.
A year ago, one of my friends rented a MINI and let me drive it. I took a turn into a gas station too quickly, and the wind guard scraper thingy got a little banged up from the turn.
Same thing happened here. But this time it's on my own car...and it didn't happen on a turn...the evil concrete parking gods did it!
Luckily, there are no visible damages until you look at that wind flap thing under the MINI. It's a little scratched and bent at one side. I assume those are cheap if I ever needed to replace it.
This experience has also reminded me that maybe I should never do a H-Sport lowering...if the roads are hitting my MINI now, think of what they'll do if I lowered it?!?!
It always sucks when you get your first ding/scratch/damage or whatever to your new car.
I'm glade the MINI does a good job at cheering you up on the ride home.
*hugs his MINI*
Jonathan

It's always good to get that first scratch/ding out of the way so you can stop worrying about it.
Nice touch to hide your's underneath the bumper!
Remember, in a MINI you don't have to pull very far into the parking space!

Road gremlins attack my MINI all the time. Sometimes I do it on purpose to get as far forward as possible to avoid the doors of neighboring cars. I often wonder if I would be so sanguine if that was my own chin getting scraped, but naw. I'm grateful the thingy is so durable and dark. And after that first scrape it's laissez faire all the way.

Maybe I'll forceably remember that now! *punches self* lol
On a happier note, my manual shifting is doing better. It's not great yet, but I think I'll be able to stay on the mountain at the dragon. (Especially since flying off the mountain would make a couple more dings...unless I install the wing mod and jet turbo engine thrusters.......)

Does it affect the little aerodynamics the MINI has? Hopefully it didn't make the flying brick into a flying toliet bowl. That just isn't very efficient at all...

I know how you feel, a couple weeks ago I curb rashed my rims on my brand new MINI. It's not even noticable, but it made me so angry to hurt my flawless MINI.
Glad to hear about the shifting, I'm finally to the point that I don't even notice I drive a manual anymore. Sometimes my passengers don't agree though.
