OK, interesting. Do they specify what constitutes a stolen vehicle? Can someone who've had their car repo'd report it as stolen, even though technically it wasn't stolen?

I can't believe a thief wouldn't want to take my bright orange easy to spot from a distance vehicle. Maybe they didn't know how to open the door?

I still use my old trick of removing the fuel pump fuse.

Of course I replace the fuse with one that does not work but it looks like all is well.

Crank all you want; it won't start.

You will have to tow it.

Good idea, most of the time a manual transmission is theft prevention , but then again then could just flat bed it.

Hook and drag might be more like it - flat beds would take too long.

Towing is exactly how most MINI thefts have occurred. Cranking or starting requires a key with immobilizer chip.

The fact is that MINI isn't attractive for theft. MINI has low demand in the black market for used parts and resale, and theft for joyriding has been pretty much limited to older cars after immobilizer chips were introduced.
