Just curious if anyone had purchased the aftermarket arm rest that attaches in the back cup holder and features a small storage compartment under the leather top. If so, what are your thoughts, do you like it? does the height work for resting your arm? how does it look in the mini? I noticed that they were being sold for $159, but saw where Moss Mini is selling it for $119. Is the Moss arm rest the same even though it is a 1/3 less in price than other sites selling it...certainly looks the same from the pictures....anyway was going to order one, but wondered first is anyone had one and their thoughts...thanks!

miniblues,

I got mine from r-speed ($159). It works well, looks great and is very functional. It does not interfere with shifting or the hand brake. Since it slides, it is easy to adjust to your liking, similar to my 530i. The height works fine for me, very natural.

I heard it covers the rear cup holder, so it is no longer functional..
Is this true ??
Peace

d-mini-ero,
It's not useful as a cup holder, but you can still put small items or a pack of smokes in it. They give you a felt fitted liner for the bottom of the cup holder, which covers the 3 mounting screws. I very rarely have anyone in the back seat anyway.

GREAT -- hope this is the perfect forum to check on a statement I found somewhere that said the MINI Arm Rest fits and all with storage, but really restricts the movement of the seats, somehow has to be removed before the front seats can be pushed forward far enough to allow passengers to get into the back seats.
Important -- any specifics, any one? Thanks. Great

Take a look at this thread here on MCO.

In that post I also lead you to this thread on MINI2 where you will see a number of photos.

Hope this helps -- Tom

Sparkles,
I think the armrest you are referring to is the $89 version that mounts with velcro straps and is wider. It has no storage function. The sliding armrest kit includes the soft side velcro self adhesive pieces that fit on the back of the seat belt latches. This protects the armrest when the seats slide back and forth. There is no problem sliding the seats forward for passenger entry on the sliding storage armrest. I got mine from r-speed and I am very pleased with it. It's a piece that "belongs" on the car. It would now seem unnatural for me if it was not there, plus it looks classy.
IMHO

My son got me one for a Christmas present, and I just took delivery of my MCS. I ordered a Panther Black leather interior, but it looks more like a very dark gray. In contacting the company to exchange the black one for a dark gray one I found out a lot more. He bought it from Superstream, Inc. Website is http://www.WoodCompanyUSA.com Turns out Wood Company imports the armrests from Italy, and has 2 dealers: Mini Mania and RSpeed!! So....you are buying the same product from all of them. The unit looks extremely well made, and I will install mine as soon as I get the dark gray one on exchange.

I also got my rest from RSpeed, and it is greatness. You do loose the rear cup holder, I guess the only one that really worked anyway, but it is worth giving up to have the arm rest and additional storage under the pad. It takes a whopping 15 minutes to install, 10 to find the tools needed and 5 to do the work and place the felt pad over the screws. The color is great, comes in a variety to suite your style and interior of the car, well worth the funds needed to purchase, don't wait, you will be sorry you did and question yourself why you waited so long.

Install and enjoy

HOW OFTEN ARE YOU IN THE BACK SEAT DRINKING???

Actually I use my rear cup holder to hold large water bottles and large cups of starbucks, laugh! I guess I will have to compromise by sliding the passenger seat up slightly and sticking the bottle between the passenger seat and the hand break which also works.....not sure mini gave much thought to cup holders, although I do use my Mini coffee mug for the front cup holders a lot, just won't work for large bottles of water...
