After three weeks of little or no down time at school/work, I was free late last night, at least for the weekend. Although my mind was cooked, I put on my comfiest clothes, opened the Mini's windows and moon roof, and drove to San Francisco. It was foggy and cool in the city. Just for the hell of it I drove down the twisties on Lombard, then south on Hwy 1 and back home. On the way home I felt renewed by ocean air and the solid hum of my buddy's motor.
So grateful this car exists.
I know what you mean. I've never been able to quite explain the phenomenon........and I have friends that "just don't get it"........but it sure works for me!

You're right. Nights are great for motoring and getting a bit of therapy. Might be even better in a Cabrio with the stars above.
Personally I do autocross for therapy
But it lasts so short!
Like doing only four rides and disneyland

YUP!!! I can't agree more with you more. After a stressful day at work, I can't wait to be able to motor home with the top down. I think it'll be refreshing after sitting all day in an office.
As for right now...when I'm stressing at work...I usually go out for lunch and drive around for an hour. I normally feel better and am able to take on the world after that.
Friends. How wonderful it is to know you are out there sharing this simple pleasure. I had no idea when I started this thread that warm fuzzies would come back from the world this way. Makes me feel more connected. I am actually moved to take another drive right now as a study break. Perhaps I'll take a picture and try to post it later! So for now - off to Wal Mart for wax and Windex, then over the hill to Pescadero and down along Hwy 1... maybe the ocean will again provide fog and a smile. Now, what music to take along??? Any suggestions? I'll look out over the Pacific and wink at our Hawaii pals.
Jeff Buckley's grace is good mood music and the new R.E.M. is also good if your want mellow. Anyway, enjoy your ride....maybe the MINI should have a couch for a back seat?

Most mornings, the thing that (finally) gets me out of bed is the prospect of motoring. I drive some twisty back roads to work and that time in my MINI are golden. (...I recently had a rental for awhile and believe me it wasn't at all the same...MINIs rock!!!)
Sunday mornings this time of year I take the twistiest way home from work. A 1 lane mountain road (for those in the area, Franz Valley to Markwest to Reblie to Rincon Valley instead of busy Calistoga road) Gets me relaxed for my day off. Then I go get some breakfast and go downtown and have beer and read the paper. Ah sundays............
