clearcoat peeling
Has anyone experienced this and in what area ?
There was a mention on another non-related thread.
I thought I would start and dedicate this this subject.
Would love some tips on how to do.
Searched the internet...and found a FEW that were pretty good....MOST were junk !!!!
I have a few areas ......drivers side lamp area....... door handles( concave area)
Hood...near the wipers..about the size of a small summer squash.
I just sprayed the areas with some topcoat so it wouldn't peel any further.
Its winter up here in MA....and we had a day last week that was near 60 !!!
VERY rare !!!!
Will do the job right in the Spring when weather is warmer !!!!

I had peeling clear where the car was repaired several years ago. I have had to have other cars repaired and haven't had this problem before. I think it's because in MD they have to use water based color and at that time it was pretty new. I'm currently having the car totally repainted in PA where they can still use polyurethane color and clear.

Have done some body repair and repainting
5 years is not an unusual life span for the clear on a repaint, water or petroleum based ....
unless the prep and conditions are 'perfect' when the clear is laid down, delamination is far from uncommon ..... this why I sometimes suggest 'living with' a small blemish as the repair may be worse in the long run ....
