My .02 arm rest lid fix

Okay, I purchased an oem arm rest from a junk yard for $80. I got it installed and the lid wouldn't stay shut so I jumped on the forum to search for a solution. Couldn't find one I liked so I came up with my own. I hope you like it.

These are the parts you need... 1- 1/4" sheet metal screw, 1- piece of thin metal, I used the worthless bracket from an electrical seal tight box, 1- Popsicle stick.

First, remove the lid, on the arm rest base, there's that piece of metal that is spring loaded, cut the Popsicle stick to wedge that forward.

Second, bend your piece of metal so it can catch the one you wedged forward, and screw it to your lid, there is a slot near the rear, that's where I have the tab coming down at, don't have too much hanging down or it will be difficult to open. Put your lid back on and that's it.. Simply lift the rear of the pad to open and close.

Hope that works for you guys too, Sal

Thanks, That's the ONE thing that's be pi##ing me off about my MCS , the armrest sliding open unasked-for. That's my style of fix, I just didn't know how to get the cover off- now I know how to do that AND how to fix it!

I'm happy to report that after driving it all week, the arm rest never moved, not even jiggled. Also opens when I want it to.. Happy camper
