Well got the pulley off the old charger. The internals are pretty torn up as far as I can see. Pulley looks fine. So just have to get the stock pulley off the new charger.

This green gasket

i have also found oil residue in the intercooler. possibly from supercharger seal failure prior to the charger locking up, or maybe bad pcv.

One tip or warning...
The craven pulley puller fits a stock S pulley..so make sure you don't have a JCW charger ( same except for the pulley from 2005+, or had the coating and a pulley on pre2005 units)...
If it has the JCW, you will likely need to cut it off...

Might be pcv residue....common...
You can clean it..brake cleaner or simple green and a rinse...be sure it is 100% dry before reuse.
A light motor oil coating is not much of an issue.. Catch cans did not really do much good...no real gain..were mostly wasted $$, MX headaches, and extra leak points......so the oil is just something to live with...

Well I just finished fixing the front suspension Dr side. When The coils were installed this one was installed improperly and upside down. So stripped the camber kit off the strut and began to take the hat off to do the flip of the coil. And now everything is back in the car and sitting pretty .I did nab a few pics for your entertainment.

the new valve cover gasket is on. the old one was flat and brittle when i removed it.
also changed the o ring on the crank sensor.

one thing i noticed while serviving the supercharger. was that my old supercharger had 3/16 bit size to remove the fill caps and the new charger was larger and used a 1/4 bit. any main difference between the two or did it vary year to year. i know i seen somewhere about a teflon charger. do i have one of those now?

2005+ units had a black coating....think pre 2005 JCW units had a gray coating... 2002-2004 units were bare...
Some rebulders add a coating to tighten up units when they are rebuilt....makes upnfor wear...
Big thing, the coating must be intact, and not talking off...uncommon, but it has happened...
The 2005+ cars did have a HP gain...part due to a slightly better SC (functionly the same), but also due to an updated ecu and an extra sensor, then better gearing to use the power...

this charger usable? stil had full amount of fluid in both cavaties

found this statement on mini2,

The coating is what is known as an abradeable coating ,ie it is designed to touch the casing and wear into size ,so it perfectly matches the outer with the rotor with a minimum gap.
This happens once the charger has got to its highest temperature and run for a few hundred miles .once set it should not change unless debris is passed through the charger or bearing surfaces alter-so a higher milage coated s/c would be better than a low mileage un-coated s/c all things being equal.
ps replace the oil before fitting

is that what im seeing?

some of the flaking is NOT on wear surfaces....
Know the "spare" SC I had on the shelf for many years had a MUCH DARKER, black coating..
There should be a STICKER on the SC with a part number and PRODUCTION DATE.....kinda wondering..

This is the grey coating. I didn't see a sticker on the charger at all.but was told it came from an 04 mcs.
Is this charger safe to run

Don't know...on my spare the rub areas were shniey and polished, but none was missing...
Any of the stuff that flakes off will go through the motor....guess its a tiny amount, but frankly, not sure what it might do...
Maybe others will chime in...

Hmmm what to do what to do.. funding another charger really isn't the budget. I just got the phone with the guy I got it from. Said he never had any problems from it to make him think anything was wrong. The only thing was the motor sounds a rod bearing (I seen the old motor and can verify that) but he ended up buying a 60k swap with charger and all. Just swapped it all together.

TVS-900 isn't just a charger though. It is going to need a few other parts. There is the outlet, intake manifold w/ water to air or manifold for the front mount intercooler. You'll also need an electric water pump, intake tube, injectors, tune, and I'm sure there are a few other things. I also think there is a waiting list too.
