Newbie Needing Help With A/C Hose
Hey everyone, I'm Mark. New to the site and am looking for help with my girlfriends car. It's a 2005 Cooper base coupe and just recently the a/c pressure hose blew a hole. I had a shop do a vacuum leak test and they confirmed it was the pressure hose. I have a new one on order through the local mini dealer and the system has been fully discharged. The only problem is that I don't know how to get the hose out. I've searched everwhere online for stuff but all I come up with is hits for the compressor. I know there's a Bentley service manual out there but I don't really want to spend the money on one right this moment due to cost. Plus Bentley manuals aren't necessarily the best saying I have one for my BMW E39 540i, and it can be a little confusing at times. Anyways is there a thread of some sort or anything out there that could help? I'd greatly appreciate any help. I hate asking this stuff in here because I'm sure there's something I'm missing. But that's why I joined the forums like I did with my Bimmer.
Part number 3 in the diagram is the hose that is blown.

Do a search here for how to put your car in front end service mode. It's basically pulling off the bumper cover and aluminum bumper behind it, and then hanging the now loose black plastic panel that is holding the condenser on it (the thing that looks like a radiator) on a couple of bolts that you've screwed into the front part of the frame. This holds it in place and given the location of #3 I'm guessing that you will then be looking right at it. I have had my cars in service mode many times but I haven't actually paid attention to where the A/C hoses are so take my advice with a grain of salt.
Putting it in service mode looks daunting but it's really quite easy and minimally intrusive. I have extras of the correct thread/length bolts used to hold the front panel in place so PM me if you need some and can't find them locally. I forget the correct thread and length but any good hardware specialty shop should have them.
Good luck.

You have to pull the airbox and front end loose. Also need to pull trans mount to get it out. It's kind of a pain.

All done.
I got it sorted out today. I pulled the front off and the battery tray and air filter housing. I pulled the old hose out through the back and routed it the same way back in. Took about 30 mins to get it through. But I was taking my time so I wouldn't risk damaging the new part. After it was all put back together I had my buddies shop vacuum the air/moisture out. After that the leak check passed and car was charged to 0.91 as stated by the factory. Car is nice and cold. Now I can finally get my bimmer back from my girlfriend before she trashes it lol.
