Help- oil leak

Hi guys,

Sorry I don't know much about cars and serious need to learn the basics. I woke up this morning and there was oil streams coming out from under the car. I know there are issues with oil leaking from the valves/gaskets as the service guys have told me to keep an eye out. I opened the bonnet and there's oil all around 1 area. I'm going to go to discount and get oil as its on the low side but wondered how severe the problem is as I don't think I can get it in anywhere today. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think I found out what it is online:

https://www.brrperformance.com/blog/?p=2821

So. If I can get it in for a day or so is it ok to drive? It's a 2005 Mini Cooper S. It only has 14,500 miles on it. Thanks for your help

I think you have found the culprit. That motor mount is known for failing and leaking quite a bit. A new mount and you should be good to go!

Its okay to drive. Wipe up all the fluid you can, and motor. Replace the upper motor mount as soon as you get a chance.

Anything in particular I should use to get all the spillage off? Thanks!

Thanks. I do have to run an errand or two and will try to get it fixed mon or Tuesday. I have the option of driving backroads or the motorway. Should I stay off the motorway if possible?

You can drive anywhere. the engine will not be hurt. what is leaking is a type of oil and can be cleaned with a solvent.

Just be careful as to what solvent to use. The engine bay is not clear coated and the body color can easily be wiped off to primer.

Thanks. I read Simple Green and a toothbrush should do the trick. There's a German mini repair shop that can get me in Thursday and are going to do it while I wait. They also had a German engine mount instead of the original factory one. I decided to go with that as the oem part seems crap & I figured this one might be better! Car is out of warranty so it won't matter. Going to cost around $240ish
