R50/53 Replaced CV boot...now, noise!
#26
Thanks for that offer, but I just figured it out.
This morning I jacked up the right front once more and once more climbed under with a prybar. Nothing loose. So then put a jack under the wheel to take some of the pressure off - bazinga, swaybar endlink was totally loose. Once the jack was removed the pressure on it held it tight and I couldn't feel the play.
And, thinking about it...(here's my admission of guilt ) - I vaguely recall now that when I was disassembling it originally I thought I needed to take the swaybar endlink off. Started to loosen it but then needed an allen wrench and thought, 'do I even need to take this off? [watches video some more] nope, didn't need to, what's next'.
At least I learned a lot about the axles and CVs on these cars. Always considered the inside of a CV boot a magic place where only the crazy went. Now I know it to be true! HA!
Thanks for all the input everyone! I owe you all a beer.
