Have someone else step on your brake pedal while it is up on a set of ramps or jack stands, VERY carefully. Watch the brake lines and other components. See if the brake lines swell or if you can find where the noise is coming from.

It might be the ABS manifold... when is the last time you had your brake fluid changed?

Brakes fall into the "NO JOKE" area...
