Daughter 'slighlty' wrecked my MINI - door replacement question

Trials and tribulations of having a 16 year old daughter I guess - who knew that the house could shift while pulling it into the garage.

Needless - the passenger door from my MINI Convertible is damaged beyond 'what will buff out'. I'd like to hit a salvage yard and see if I can get a replacement in Chili Red, but everything's from a hardtop.

Do any of you know if the R50/R53 doors would be a replacement for the R53? I can't find anything online that definitive for the entire door. Interior bits would be pulled off of the existing - I'm just worried about the main door itself.

And since everyone like to see carnage.

Good luck!!
You might try looking up the part number in "realoem.com" for both cars (a random hardtop vs a cabrio)..see if they match...

As per Zippy's advice, according to Real OEM, R50/52/53 use the same doors, identical part numbers !

You might want to look into a used door. EBay has good deals or your local wrecking yard. Craigslist too. You should be able to get a door for $300. Then just swap the parts over after it is painted. If you get lucky. You will find a red one.

You could also get the door rescinded. This will be cheaper than a new one. But probably more expensive than a used one.

Thanks guys - that's actually what I was looking for - a salvage yard part in red. In the NE here, I do need to be careful of rust - my car has never seen snow.

Hopefully this swap out wont be too hard.

Paint fades over time, some colors more than others and on each panel of car equally over time depending on personal care by owner. If you buy one off of a used car already painted, I doubt very much the finish will match the rest of your car....

You are Captain Courageous, first for trying to swap your own passenger side door, second for letting your 16 year old daughter drive your MINI!
