New 2005 R53

Well, I decided to sell my GP2 as I never drove and never really bonded with the car. It was great but having it plus the 2006 GP and a JCW CM it was tough modifying any of them since they came pretty nicely moded. So thats where this 2005 comes in. I looked for a while and finally found one, 2005 S with 48,800 miles. I was in good mechanical working condition but just needs a lot of TLC (major cleaning). I have already started with the little things
1. JCW R112 wheels
2. JCW Alcantera Steering Wheel
3. Carbon Fiber Shifter and Ebrake
4. Black leather and Red armrests
5. Black leather and Red down tubes

It came with the Sport Suspension Plus, NAV, HK Sound, Chili Red Interior package and even has backup sensors...lol..

It's at the shop right now getting the Aero Kit sides and eventually it will get the front and rear bumpers.

My future plans are.

1. Stratmoshere exhaust
2. DDM intake
3. M7 strut brace
4. different sway bars and all new bushings
5. JCW Gen2 Brembos
6. coil-overs (not sure what yet)

I'm sure the list will go on...

Thanks for looking and any suggestions are welcome.

Here is a link to the it and the little mods so far.

Stu.

Nice detailing job! What'd you use on the engine bay?

+1 on a very clean R53 with some very nice upgrade. The R112 look nice on the R53.

Looks like you are already on the right track

"Aero Kit sides and eventually it will get the front and rear bumpers. "

4. different sway bars and all new bushings H&R and PF ( Powerflex)
5. JCW Gen2 Brembos Awesome!
6. coil-overs (not sure what yet) The New ST Suspension STX A with the adjustable front camber plates are very nice.

You already have a great start.

Did it come with the red trimmed floor mats? Those look awesome.

As for other mods... get the 15% if it doesn't already have one, plus maybe some new injectors and an RMW tune to bring everything together.

Scottie,
The floor mats are from Cocomats. I had them in my GP2 and put the OEM ones back in it when I sold it. I also have them in my 06 GP and JCW CM.. they are awesome.

I have the 15% pulley and belt, DDM intake, new plugs, new aluminum coolant tank going on next week. A new Stratmoshere WMW exhaust will be going on in another few months.

Thanks Troy,

Aero Sides are from MINI of Plano, can't remember the exact price as I bought a bunch of other stuff too. Contact them and ask for Brandon in parts.

As far as the front and rear, not sure when I'll do that. An exhaust is the next big item I want to purchase.

Plus Gen2 Brembos...

Here are updated pix...

It's at the body shop right now getting a scratch fixed from where it was keyed when the prior owner had it. Side skirts are being painted there at the same time.

The Aero Sides are right here:

We have the most Genuine MINI parts on our site.

Gen 1 MINIs R50 / R52 / R53 had there own style side skirts seen here, they are from the Aero kit even though some people call them the JCW Aero:

#3 Aerodynamic Side Skirt Panel Primed - Left Part # 51710392891

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51710392891/

&

#3 Aerodynamic Side Skirt Panel Primed - Right Part # 51710392892

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51710392892/

Then you will need the little rear grilles: 51710140257 & 51710140258

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51710140257/

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51710140258/

Then you can replace the door sill inserts on each side. #24 Part # 51710154680

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/51710154680/

Or

Choose your own door sills, there are many to choose from even led illuminated ones.

Really nice build and pic's.

Having two R53's with one of them being a GP is just about perfect. I wish i could have done the same !

I guess some of us know already that the R53 is a 'future classic'

'05's are great. Mine is hyper blue with black stripes. Just goes through front tires. My son tells me we can put camber plates on and go to a specialty shop for alignment with camber. Does this sound right?

Correct alignment will help the front tire, even though MINIs are know to shoot through tires due to the amount of twisties these thing link. Also check the suspension components for wear, like outer ball joints and tie rods. They can cause increased wear.
