Is you Mini covered under the power steering recall?

If so, you can get this fixed at Mini's expense not yours.

You need a new pump. Mine was working when it wanted to before it failed completely.

Mine went out the day after I received my power steering notice in the mail.

Whew.

+1 Check to see if you fall under the extension. If not we have the pump and fan here, I would also check your P/S lines which you are there for leaks.

P/S lines

Thanks for all he replies. Turns out my car is covered under the ext warranty so I'll be taking it in Monday. They just said if my lines are bad I have to pay for them separately

If the lines are "weeping"... I'd price them out first...
Do not let them stick you for a crazy price....you could always get them done elsewhere ...heard of one guy who the dealer told he had to pay $1500 for new lines to get the $800 PS pump...and HALF the work was already done and paid for to get at the pump...
Some dealers are great...but some are terrible.....

+1 to that. Mine turned out great. You can still drive the car without Power steering, it just sucks. If the Power Steering is getting really hot to the point of smoking or odd smells you may want to tow it to a dealer or something.

Or power steering delete kit... your choice really.
