I believe it has to be taken at a reasonable start to the issue. As far as not being the first owner, that should be no issue at all.

Also, to add some "sketchiness" to it... MINI of Bedford told me I was denied but that for more detail I had to call MINI USA at 866-275-6464. They had no records of a claim... So I called back and got the above quote... Seems weird that I was denied for a claim that MINI USA didn't know I had when it was MINI USA folks looking at the car...?

Did you try MINIUSA again. Also might want to call the next closest dealer.

I had pictures taken and then fixed.
Hatch replaced and then again went back when I saw what looked like a bubble by the gas cap. There was a chip that they fixed, too. I took it in and showed them the surface rust from the weather stripping on the door will, which MINI posted something saying they would repair.
I think by pairing those two together, that helped.

I wasn't even going to take my car in, thinking it would be denied since it wasn't rust 'perforation'. Can't find my warranty book...it must spell it all out including checkups, etc in there?

Mine rust wasn't through. I told them that I'm catching but early, and in another few months would be through, and they replaced the hatch and what looked like rust around the gas cap.
