GreekDrifter's R53

Hello all, this is my 2002 Mini Cooper S

Im not go mod this thing right away first things first winter rubber then rims for my summer tires Because steelies with hub caps is gonna cut it. especially with the all seasons its got on now they are 175/60/15 terrible stuff. Im also going to upholstery the steering wheel because its falling apart and looks like ****. their is a cover on it, but its way to chunky and uncomfortable.

List of mods after shoes are sorted out... its gonna be a slow build just like every other car hahaha.

engine-
-Header
-Cat-back exhaust
-Intake
-16% reduction pulley for the super charger
-upgraded intercooler.
-tune.

suspension-
-coilovers
-swaybars
-strut bars
-motor mounts

i spent yesterday painting my brake calipers and rotors! i painted the calipers red and the rotor hubs black. did the hubs so that they dont rust.

i also picked up some EBC greenstuff pads those arnt going to go in yet my garbage pads still have plenty of meat on them.

and got AUX cable to but silly me didnt bother to read that 02's dont have a AUX option programmed in to them. so i went to go do install and it didnt work. off to go find a head unit on ebay or at a junkyard.

Car looks good first one I've seen pinstriped. Noticed you have CT plates. If you haven't already check out http://nemini.org we are an active group here in the tri-state area.

Money on wheels is money well spent. Cheap ones are cheap, and there are many threads showing cheap rims fracturing upon hitting a big pothole. I really like the OEM r90 rims.

OMG..... my braking power has returned!!! brakes feel nice and stiff and the initial bite is nice! i dont know what the heck the dealer put on for pads but i couldn't stop. i mean i could stand on the breaks and the ABS wouldn't work. now all i have to do is just think about braking and i get whiplash lol.... the old ones would squeal like a SOB even when not braking and now thats gone!

the STD's went on nice except for the passenger side i had a serious mushroom problem there had to bang it back into place.

dont have time to install the helix short shifter ill save that for another day.

off to buy braided stainless steel brake lines, coilovers, and tires & rims...

spent some time looking at the dyno thread. and what is needed to get power, and to me it looks like a lot of hit or miss stuff. its probably based on the dyno, the brand and the corection factors but. i want to hit 200 or more whp. but i would be very happy with 200whp. what do i need to do to get that high?

this is what i was thinking.
First:
-M7 16%
-DDM Works intake/ and a silicone intake tube.
-Invidia cat back.
-new plugs/wires maybe coil pack

Later:
-either JCW or M7 400cc injectors
-then heres where im stuck whats better a custom tune or getting a JCW flash?
-GP intercooler

i dont want to get into a cam just yet. it is a good bang for your buck mod but dont want to do it yet.

Any incite would be appreciated so i can lay out a plan of attack.

go with the custom tune over the JCW flash. Even people with the JCW pack that comes standard with the JCW flash make more power on a custom tune than they do on just the JCW flash.

thats what i was leaning towards i just need to find a reputable tunner in the CT/Mass area. i was consider the JCW flash just because it would probably be cheaper and easier.

by the way sniper you greek? with the way you name your cars someone might think you are hahaha

ahahaha, no I'm not Greek. Just a fan of Greek Mythology. Seeing as Iphigenia was struck down by a deer I figured I should probably stick with it, but maybe that was a bad decision.

That would be a terrible trend!

When are you getting new wheels so you can stop rolling around grandma style?

i will order them as winter finishes up so i can put them on as soon as a nice day comes. im gonna roll with these bicycle tire all seasons till then. but i really think im gonna go with the konig retracks they have grown on me. even though i have not seen another MSC with them on i did do a P-shop and they did look good. then after that coilovers!

i replaced my fuel filter today, engine feels better. i wanted to seafoam too but it is raining and i dont want to stand in the rain.
now hopefully with a new fuel filter, seafoaming and an oil change/ and ecu reset, the engine will feel really great. i want to do plugs and wires also because i have the feeling they have never been replaced. im now rolling up on 128K miles

Make the tune/injectors your FINAL step....after you do the cam. You MUST tune if you run bigger than 380' injectors...just too much change for the car to handle.
The last few years RMW has visted ct and tuned mini's in the norwhich area during the limerock racing season when one of the west cost traveling tuners are around.....

With 128K miles on the car you may want to start thinking about the lifespan of the supercharger. They are known to go bad around 100K. A seal on the water pump side starts leaking and the oil seeps out. Causing the gears to run dry and chew themselves up.

i know i have been thinking about rebuilding it soon, none of these mods will happen anytime soon. im just asking questions. but i think i will wait in the spring/summer to get a rebuild this is my DD and there is no way in hell im driving the rx7 in the winter time that car is way to clean.

Seafoamed my car today i used the whole can in through the intake and another half can in the oil. let it sit for 20 min then i began to fumigate the neighborhood. and went for a long drive to burn the rest of it off.

it was bad really really bad. it reminded me of the first time i seafoamed my jetta it was this bad i think after the next few sessions the engine will be nice and clean. at least thats what i found when i did my jetta the more i seafoamed the less smoke i got and the better the engine ran. and more mpg

Getting ready to do the same with the seafoaming. There was another thread on here the other day with someone saying that its more harm than good, and that's by far the opposite of what I've ever experienced with seafoam. So everything went like normal... Good to hear... I personally have just never done it to a FI engine before, and am glad to hear it worked out for ya.
