The dealer threw in some Mini floor mats for free when I picked up my Mini. They attach to the floor with a velcro circle thingy that is attached to the floor via one of those pop-in things. Everytime I pull out the floor mat it pulls out the entire velcro thingy instead if pulling apart the velcro. Any ideas on making this work right?
I am about to remove the thingys as nothing is better than dealing with them coming out every time.

Try experimenting by incrementally covering up sections of the velcro circles with tape until the retaining force is as you like. Leave the tape or get fancy and remove the velcro under the taped portion. . . maybe with a file or melt it slightly with something hot to render it ineffective.
I haven't had the probem with the circles actually pulling out, but they sure do grip tight don't they? In fact, each time I remove the mats, I am surprised they don't pull out as well.
Anyway, just a thought. Let me know if you try it.
lol, i couldn't even figure out what to do with those plastic things, i think i lost them, i just put the floormat there, and it seems whatever material the underside is made out of just happens to have a lot of grip , mine haven't moved since, and even taking them out to wash them is a hassle cause i can't just pull them out, i have to lift them out...

After having the floor mats in my old Civic bunch up under the clutch pedal and cause a dangerous situation more than once.... I for one WELCOME the super-grippy mats in the MINI!
My '02 has threaded screws attached to the underside and when one came out I just screwed it down tight and it never came out again...try "screwin" it down

Now that I think of it, I always thought it was odd that there was that little velcro spot on the bottom of the mats. Mine didn't come with any. That being said my mats don't move at all. So maybe you could try going without the little tabs and try that. My wife always moves the mats around in our other cars and gets them in positions that I never thought could happen, but the MINI mats don't budge.

New S coming soon I hope!!!
Here's a pic of the amount of blood that bled from my finger after I picked up my rubber floor mat off the grass after hosing it down. I didn't realize that the velcro attachment had stuck to the mat, and these razor like hooks were below. So when I grabbed the mat, all I remember was something stinging a lot!
Yikes! I gotta check my mats before they draw blood!
