I just got my driving shoes from the U.P.S. guy today. They do look a little odd with the shoes looking slightly different, don't they? I got the monaco 5-3 blue, tan shoes. I like they way they feel, but I think they look like bowling shoes. Just so I'm not nuts, does a pair of Piloti shoes each side look different? Can anyone explain why they are different? More curious than anything else.

I have a pair of Piloti's and my freinds give me loads of cr*p about them. Everything from bowling shoes to mildly ethnic slurrs. The can screw-off. In my opinions, the shoes do in fact make me a better driver and that's all that matters.

I have a pair that I wear when I'm on thr track or autocrossing. But, I agree, they look strange and I take them off when I'm walking around the paddock.

I have had a pair of the dtm style pilotis for a few years. But they are all black, so they don't look too goofy. I used to wear them every day in fact. It's time for a new pair, these things really do feel better on the pedals.

They look cool....but I've never seen them in person.

I wear canvas shoes...cons or deck shoes a lot because they're light, easy to clean, I like them. Pocketrocketowner's right....its rediculous when "people" want to push what's "manly" and what isn't....whether it be about hobbies, automobiles, or shoes...whatever. What, do we all have to conform? That's nuts, IMO.

I sometimes use a pair of wrestling shoes, with the liner removed. Very very thin soles. Dirt cheap at $15 on sale, and don't look like bowling shoes. I also like the Schumacher branded Fila shoes:

I like the way they look but then again, I am a GIRL. Bowling shoes are very cool. When I was in high school we use to steal them from the bowling alley.

I wear keds when I autox- I get them for around $10 at TJMaxx and they're very comfortable. They are thin soled so I can feel the pedals, and inexpensive, which is even better. I rarely pay more than $50 for shoes.

Thanks for all the feedback. Don't get me wrong, I think the shoes will be great for whatever driving I do. I don't think I've ever seen shoes that don't mirror each other. Maybe it's a new trend. Bowling shoes you wear on the street and don't mirror each other. I can say I was cool before it was, LOL BTW, These look a bit different in person than looking at a picture.
LOOK OUT DRAGON, I HAVE MY DRIVING SHOES!!!

To answer your original question, yes they are supposed to be different. The right shoe should be a bit wider at the ball of the foot and/or have a different sole to accomodate heal and toe down-shifting. Hope this is what you were looking for, enjoy your new shoes.

Bought a pair of these two weeks ago and got to use them for the first time. They are awesome !

I have a better feel of pedal/location and makes driving a stick shift even more pleasurable.

I bought mine off an Ebay vendor's auction for less than 40 bucks. And they have more......

and..... I see Sketchers now makes a similar pair also with the rolled heal too....

I have 3 pairs of Pilotis; Black/Yellow Spyders, Blue/White Prototipos and White/Blue Trimmed Scuderias. I wear them driving and walking.

Great shoes, very comfortable who gives a crap what other people say about them, especially when they are also the ones who likely dis the MINI
