6 figure mile-stone
My wife send me a message early this morning that her " Mini Pearl" as she calls the Mini just turned over.
Still going strong except the check engine light won't stay off to no avail from many indi mechanics and dealership mechanics working on it and replacing sensor after sensor.
Here is a link to a B-4 and after picture. of the mile(s)tone

Wow, that is great and crazy at the same time.
Welcome to the boards! Nice... not bad for a 12yo MINI.
My '05 MCS, took delivery on 11/11/04 is reaching 104.8k miles.

Two weeks ago I wanted to take a picture of 100,000 miles. I was 2 miles away from hitting it when I got to school for two finals. By the time I was done with the two finals I had forgotten about the 100,000 miles. Missed it by 20 miles hahaha!
I am 100,500 now!

Miles o' Many...
'06 MCS 104,000
Bought it three years ago with 94k. Leased Nissan LEAF electric for commuting about 9 months later so the Mini stays in the garage except for nice road jaunts. Added Stratmosphere dual catback exhaust. It runs a charm.
So pleased to see how many miles others have driven theirs. I plan to keep driving it forever in retirement.

For those with higher mileage, what are your typical maintenance items and costs (if you don't mind me asking)? Is this your daily driver? I'm considering picking up a used one and am trying to figure out which model I should be looking for, the maintenance I will be looking at and where to look for issues.

I'm at 170K. Daily Driver. 120 total miles a day for work.
Here's a guesstimate of work with rough prices for what I've done since 100K. If anyone says you paid way too much, remember, this is just off the top of my head.
- $800: New Exhaust due to rust, Stainless Steel BORLA
- $500: New CV Axles, replaced gear box oil at same time. One of the after market axles fell out and broke a bunch of stuff. Don't by cheap ones.
- $500 Per: I've gone through 3 windshields in the last couple years. I don't know if it's the angle of the windshield, but I just don't have any luck. My latest one replaced less than a year ago already has two bigger chips
- $100 Per: Plastic A-Pillar Covers. These crack when removed for windshield replacement
- $350: Oil pan gasket, this did not totally alleviate all of my oil leaks. See other posts about the common oil leaks.
- $150: turn signal/light switch
- $100: hatch handle due to constant corrosion and constantly getting pulled over for license plate bulbs out
- $300: Radiator
- $300: Engine mounts
- $60 per: Serpentine belt (twice)
- $100: Spark plugs and wires (getting new ones soon)
- $$$$$: Various suspension components ball joints, tie-rods, sway bar bushings
- $200: Front wheel bearing
- $80 Per: Oil changes every 5-7K
- $50: K&N Air filter recharging when needed
- $50: CD Player
- $300: Power amplifier for stereo
- $$$$$: Lots of tires due to uneven wear
- $500: Used Wheels. Thanks potholes.
- $30: New Gas Cap
- $250: Rear Brake Caliper
- $200 Per time: Front/Rear Brake pads and rotors twice
- $40: Coolant Reservoir
I'm sure there's more. That doesn't list things like fluid flushes and tire rotations and alignments.
Here's what I want to fix or probably should be done:
- $150 per side: Both door lock actuators
- $300-400: Need a new Key and my old one repaired
- Various Oil leaks
- Sunroof isn't working correctly
- Sunroof is leaking
- Probably need a new clutch soon. 170K on a clutch is a lot but it still works great. I have the chewbacca glazed flywheel
- Shocks/Struts. I'm still passing inspection and hear no clunking
- Rust on the hatch due to that shitty hatch handle
- tie-rods
I live with a lot of the stuff cause it's a non issue. The door actuators haven't worked for a good 7 years. I just don't care to fix them lol.
I bought the car in 2008 with 33K miles on it for around $18,000. I've had it paid off for 3 years. I'm going to try to get around 250-300K miles out of it since I put around 35K on it a year.
If you have any more detailed questions about stuff, I'd be happy to answer.

Save $200 per month for maintenance and you should be able to cover anything that comes up. Yes that adds up to a lot, but way less than a car payment on a vehicle this much fun to drive.
My daily driver R53 has 140k miles and is about to be passed on to my son when he gets back to the states in August.
Over the last 2 years I've put $5-6k into the car basically replacing/rebuilding so that my son has nothing to worry about. Even still I calculated all of the maintenance I have performed over the past 8 years comes to around $150 per month. A DIYer could spend half that.
Last 2 years:
New clutch and flywheel
New belts and hoses
Rebuilt suspension, installed Koni FSDs, rear sway bar
Power steering
Tires and brakes
I'm sure there is more, but those were the big items.
The car is so quiet now, drives beautifully; I almost just want to keep it. But the wife and I enjoy my R59 more, and for all the ways my son has not cost me anything he deserves it.
With proper maintenance I easily expect the car to go another 100k miles.

06 JCW R52. Bought with 26,006 miles. Just hit 27,500 roughly 4 weeks later.
Few small issues (replaced trunk closed sensor, oil pan / crank sensor gasket, need to replace cooling fan due to low speed resistor being bad) but overall I am pretty happy. I have some nice Corbeau seats waiting to go in that fit me better (i'm 6'5)
Its like a go kart and feels so much more direct than the '14 WRX it replaced, which kind of muscled its way through turns. I got rid of it so I can get rid of having a car loan.
Here it is with the WRX from when I signed for it right before I turned the WRX back to stock

Gearscout...coolest MINI pic...EVER!
And that's one cool looking convertible zr0z. My '05 is old and beat up, but I just hit a new milestone:
Please anyone reading this thread...don't buy into the, 'regular maintenance will prevent all ills' theories. My car has done 200k miles with very little regular maintenance - 15k mile oil changes per MINI's recommendation, changed air filter at 115k miles...think I did the plugs once; serpentine belt at 171k. Listen to some on here and you'd think you need to be under the car every day!
Here's how it looks now:
Just have fun!
