I find it amazing that this same topic comes up again and again!!

Supercharged and Turbo motors tend to burn oil faster than normally aspirated motors, in part due to poorer oil control in the cylinders, due to the higher combustion chamber pressures. While manufacturing tolerances, oil control+piston rings wear/seating ,leaks etc all play a roll, the moral of the story is CHECK YOU OIL.....Frequently when you first get your MINI (every fill-up), and then once you know its specific characteristics, at a regular interval....like every couple of gas-ups. Simple. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

Every time I read..."the RED add oil light came on and the engine ran rough" I cringe....and I worry about ever buying a used car!! I guess people don't know how to even skim over the manual.....and find out that the MINI does not have a "ADD OIL" light....and even if it did it would be yellow....Would such a light be a good idea...sure....but a moot point...we don't have one. DEAL WITH IT!!

In the meantime....it gives all of us board people here something to laugh at!! And maybe CRY just a bit.....POOR MINI!!!
