What is required to put on a German plate

I want to get a german plate, and it looks like it should fit on the back of the car, but I don't want to buy one and discover that it won't work. Anybody have experience with putting one on a stock rear lid?

That was before the coilovers! But yeah, something like that? I just drilled 2 holes on the euro plate and mounted it between the boot itself and the adapter to fit the United States plates.

Yea thats a way also. but if u buy the adapter u dont have to drill anyhting in the plate. it just slides into place.and a trim ring clips over it.
And yes it is VERY capable of HIGH speeds so dont worry about that.

check autoplates.com

Really? I was under the impression MINI was both owned and engineered by BMW, which I also thought was a German manufacturer.

I guess I must be wrong though since my knowledge of cars is so little.

Is there any way to mount the Euro Plate on the front of the car using the hole for the tow hook?.....kind of like the "no-holes" license plate for our U.S plates, but for a euro one.......

I'm sure there is a way. I would never, ever, put a front plate on my car as it just looks tacky, but yeah, you can probably do it.

Try some of these for starters; Sauerkraut, Sauerbraten, Wienerschnitzel, Rouladen, Bratwurst Goulash.

Served with a dark beer of course.

Sorry, but I have to resurrect this thread from the dead. I need to do a Euro Plate install on the FRONT of my MINI. This is the only thread I can find that gets close to the subject...close but no cigar. Has ANYBODY on here done this? How hard will it be? Would I have to drill holes (do NOT want to do that)? Is there a kit out there that I can get that will help? Any htoughts will be appreciated...

The GP came with both euro spec and US spec mounts, I kept the euro for fronts but had to use the US (obviously) so I heavy duty all plastic Velcro for rears. There was a couple of dealers that could get the oem MINI plate holders forgot who try MINIFireman or FiremanMINI ask him which dealer had them. Or try realoem.com here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...02&hg=51&fg=15
check out number 12, then ask your dealer if the could get that part number.
You could also, get plate holder from europlates.com or bavarian auto.

Thanks Howsoon,
I noticed that most of the euro plate vendors had the mount (or frame) that I could purchase, but they all look like they require you to drill holes in the bumper. Is there a mount bracket or method that would not require me to do that? By the way, your car looks great.

Other than this:

But I did not like it, and actually wanted to use my tow hook hole as a permanent tow hook hence in photo. I did not want holes either so I used 3M Dual Lock Plastic Velcro it's like $4 bucks at Target anything less will fail originally tried the strongest normal velcro but it failed and I lost a euro plate on Mollahand Drive. See here:

Also, check your local laws, cause it is illegal here in CA, many JDM and VW kids at Starbucks ask me if I have gotten any tickets for front euro plates. I have not and had them in previous MINI since 04, but I suspect cause I am an old fart, the agism thing is on my side. Even when I get justifiably pulled over they say nothing about the euro plates of lack of CA plates.

Thanks Again, Howsoon. I guess I'm gonna go for it with your velcro idea.
Hey, I went back through your Sheila R.I.P. story and am wondering if you got your Euro plate off the front of the car before the insurance company took it...? I saw it on the car on the wrecker...

Yes
The plates are the same ones, both plates stayed attached after the impact, then put them on the GP. Same tow hooks and euro shelf, as well.
