Car is acting funny...ideas?

Hey Guys!

I was driving down the highway today, and all of a sudden my gas pedal wouldn't work anymore. I was driving around 70-80 MPH, nothing too serious, when it happened. Luckily, I coasted off the highway and got the car home. I turned it off, waited 5 minutes, and restarted it. The belt is on fine, and the car worked perfectly again.

It sounded almost like it was sputtering before I turned it off. I know I have an exhaust leak, as the car sounds a little louder than normal and my mechanic told me I have a hole right before the cat. It almost sounded like an old hot rod, just quieter. Like a continuous popping noise that seemed to sputter.

Any ideas as to what this could be? I should also mention I have a 19% pulley and for some reason recently haven't been able to boost over 9psi (I have a gauge), and I usually can get to 17-18psi under max throttle.

Ideas and help are appreciated, thanks everyone!

-Chris

EDIT: Car is a 2005 MCS for the record.

well if you arent boosting normally you might have some belt slipping. Check/tighten the tensioner. If this started slipping badly while youre going, the intake could have been obstructed by the supercharger vanes rotating slower than the normal rpm. The exhaust shouldnt adversely affect how your car runs, if anything it will reduce back pressure and let your engine breath easier. I'm guessing its the belt slipping.

Unfortunately, zero progress. It sounds like it's pretty severe though. Here's what happened:

My engine now goes into limp home mode at speeds over 50mph. I constantly get service engine soon and EML lights on.

It also sounds really bad, and I'm idling at a little over 1k, which isn't good. Still can't boost over 9psi.

So I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow, and I'll let you guys know what's up.

Take a look at your coil pack and pull the #3 cylinder spark plug wire at the coil pack. See if the connector is corroded.

Hey guys, as it turns out, I just had it diagnosed the other day after having it towed when it wouldn't start for me on Saturday night!!

Anyway, it turned out to be that the plastic casing around the timing chain had slowly disintegrated and fallen apart, thus causing the engine's timing to not be anywhere close to in sync.

Apparently, it's a pretty labor intensive job...my mechanic said it's going to run me about $1200. So that's the followup story.
