Driving with Bad PS Fan/Pump?

So last night I scoured the forums and found lots of useful info about my PS fan, pump, seals, etc. and successfully disconnected the battery to prevent the non-stop running fan from draining it completely. My question now is, is it okay to drive around to a couple service shops for them to have a look with this problem (assuming I'll have to disconnect the battery at each stop to make it stop) or should I pick a place for the car to be towed? Thanks NAMers!!

This is a 2004 MC with 60,500 miles...completely stock except for the K&N air filter (and I think I could feel those extra 3 HP

I would think you should be fine to drive to the shops. Or just call around to get a price on getting it fixed.

I see you are in Sacramento.
I was able to find a good, low mileage used pump here:
http://www.mazdarecycling.com/

They are in Rancho Cordova. The guy who helped me was Jason. Good guy!

We have a customer who drove with a dead pump for years. He's a big, strong guy, though. His MINI didn't mind and he got stronger.
