white haze

I got my new to me mini home and gave it a good cleaning and a couple of coats of good wax. The instructions on the can say, in bold letters "KEEP OF VINYL, RUBBER AND CLOTH SURFACES. But get real, how can you spread and polish the stuff with out smearing a bit on the edges of the vinal/rubber parts. And sure enough there's a white haze everywhere it got smeared. How do I get it off the vinyl/rubber around the wheel wells ect and restore the original black color?

Black Wow.

In theory, you should tape off the trim before you wax/polish, or else be reallllly careful. Or you can dress the trim heavily before you start, then wax will wipe right off.

But Black Wow will get it right out. A pea-sized amount does the whole trim on the car.

Back To Black(Meguire's, I think) works pretty well. Or hot water and ammonia-rinse well!-, then trim treatment. I usually do trim treatment first then wax. That seems to work pretty well.

...until a week goes by, or it rains. Stuff is pretty much garbage I've found. I ended up re-claying those portions, and protecting with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

My god, I love 303.

Black Wow is the best treatment I have used on the black trim. It cleans and treats, plus you use so little of it that a bottle will last a few years at least. Plus you will be supporting a NAM vendor

Go here for lots of info;

Peanut oil. In my experience, it works better than Back to Black. It will shine up the black trim.

Black Wow works great, and lasts a REALLY long time. I highly recommend it.

Peanut oil does also work, but Black Wow both removes the haze AND gives the trim a nice finish, which I like.

Black Wow is by far the best treatment I've used.

That would be good advice going forward ... but, since he already has the haze, he's asking for help to get rid of it.

Turtle wax Ice works well for the black trim also. It is a wax that you can use on plastic and rubber trim. I used it to get the old wax residue off my fender flairs.

Black Wow is what you want.
Mothers (not Megs) Back to Black will cover it some but Black Wow will clean the wax off the trim and treat it so it looks better than before you started.

I found that a good hand brush works really well. The one I used was for cleaning tires or something. It should be a little soft, but still stiff enough to be able to scrub. Work in a circular motion and it comes right off.

I'd go with the peanut oil - price approx $2.00 for a near lifetime supply. Black Wow price approx. $25.00. You do the math.
