A few of us Lotus and Acura NSX owners have gotten together and rented the Pacific Grand Prix track for the entire day of Tuesday, July 7th. That's right, we're going to drive our Lotuses and NSXes on the very tight, technical PGP full course, which is normally used for motorcycles and go-karts, but works great for sports cars too.
I know this is kind of short notice (only 1 week away) but we still have room for a few more people and would love to get a few Minis out there.
Original announcements on LotusTalk and NSX Prime forums have more info and tell how to participate.
This is a casual, informal, low-stress get together, no racing, just cruising around on some beautiful pavement with lots of curves. We're stressing fun and safety over all else. See my videos to get a feel for what it's like. It's extremely fun ... everybody who's been on that track just can't stop smiling afterwards.
Well, we got 25 people (no Minis, unfortunately ... maybe next time?) and had a great time.
Photo gallery here and the best video I've seen so far here. The track really favors small cars over powerful cars. We'll probably do it again in a month or so, possibly sooner.
We're going again on Tuesday, July 21. Track novices and regular street cars are welcome, we have all kinds of cars and experience levels. We still have room for about 5 more cars.
We're getting ready to do our fourth Pacific Grand Prix track day on Monday, August 24. Turnout has been great for the first three and we're looking forward to another good one. We had a Mini show up for the last one (August 10) and it was a good fit for the small track. Driving on this track is like autocrossing, but with multiple laps and a lot less waiting around between sessions.
