I'm going to get one of these and see how well it works.

Thanks for the link. I've been thinking about this too. I wonder if the software is smart enough to council you on your driving style and point out wasteful, imprudent or downright dangerous habits?

Just one thing; in the article/advertisement, note in the fourth paragraph, the use of "breaks" instead of 'brakes'. Small, but significant. A graduate of the "Back of the Matchbook Journalism School".

Check the list of compatable vehicles. There are some BMW's that it won't work with.

I'd love to have one of these to complement my GeezCube for AutoXing

Better yet, combine the two into a complete vehicle dynamics monitoring system.... ah la F1...

There, that's my million dollar idea for today....

I'll give Davis a call in the AM to see if they have a CarChip with higher fidelity....
and will make the data format available to developers...

I heard back from the people that make the CarChip.. bad news for now...

Hello,

The CarChip does not have the capability to log data faster than every five
seconds. In the future who knows what the CarChip may evolve into. For the
short term, however, this will not be possible.

Thankyou for your interest in our product and for you great suggestions. You
request will be forwarded to a cognizant person although I can not promise
anything.

When I first heard of the carchip on the techtv channel I did a little research on their web site and found out about the data capture rate of 5s. I was turned off immediately. But I started this thread: CarChip thread

Are you recording from your MINI? If so, can you provide a sample data from your MINI so we can see what it looks like?
